A brief description on the definition and the characteristics of the shipbuilding block intelligent workshop is proposed. The overall structure of the shipbuilding block intelligent workshop, the functions of each architecture layer, the spatial layout design and its principles, the data information circulation mechanism，and the key technologies of the intelligent workshop management system are preliminarily studied and discussed. It provides reference for the construction of shipbuilding block intelligent workshop for shipbuilding and ocean engineering enterprises.
