With the development of linguistics,researches of the hedge now focus on some practical texts such as academy,technology,news report and advertisement.By analyzing examples in Olympic news reports,the paper reveals the necessity of hedges in sports news,and gives more understanding of the way in which Olympic news reports achieve the pragmatic functions to build the forum of cross-cultural communication and embody the human-oriented concept of Beijing Olympic Games.
