Abstract:The problem of calcium carbonate crystal blocking in karst water is common in the drainage system of karst tunnels, which leads to the aggravation of tunnel leakage and endangers the safety of tunnel operation. In the project practice, drainage treatment was carried out for the leakage of lining construction joints of one operating highway tunnel in karst area, and the hydrophobic coating was applied on the concrete subsurface of drainage half pipe to reduce the adhesion of crystal. The indoor test and field monitoring were carried out for the long-term working performance of the hydrophobic coating. In this paper, the contact angle of the subsurface was selected as the characterization index, and the change of the contact angle of the mortar block coated with the composite hydrophobic coating was measured and analyzed under the three environmental conditions of drying, soaking and water scouring. According to the environmental condition monitoring of the tunnel site, the conditions of water scouring in the water diversion and drainage facilities of construction joints were analyzed, and the annual days of water scouring in the drainage facilities of construction joints were counted. Combined with the results of laboratory test and field monitoring, the long-term performance of the hydrophobic coating was analyzed and discussed. The results show that: the hydrophobic base surface formed by the composite hydrophobic coating alleviated the attachment of calcium carbonate crystal on the concrete surface to a certain extent, and prolonged the working life of the leakage drainage facilities of the tunnel lining construction joint; the long-term performance of the composite hydrophobic coating was mainly affected by the water scouring, and the mechanism might come from the hydrolysis and erosion wear of the surface coating; depending on the climate and hydrological environment of the project, the effective working time of the composite hydrophobic coating was about 2 years.
