Comparative Study on Soil Fixation Mechanical Characteristics of Slope Vegetation Root in Desert-crossing Highway
Abstract:Taking the root systems of Salix cheilophila, Caragana korshinskii and Artemisia ordosica, which are commonly used in slope protection of the desert-crossing highway in Kubuqi Desert as the research object, through field location sampling and indoor mechanical test, the soil fixation mechanical characteristics of the thrss shrubs were studied, and the root morphology and mechanical indexes were measured. The result shows that the root tensile resistance and breaking resistance of the three shrubs increased with the increase of root diameter in a power function, while the tensile strength and breaking strength decreased in a power function with the increase of root diameter, with significant differences among species. From the perspective of single root mechanics, caragana microphylla could provide more effective rigid support to slope soil than salix mongolica and artemisia ordosica because it has better indicators at every aspect. From the perspective of shear resistance, salix mongolica has the best root morphology index and the ability to improve the shear strength of soil, which could provide greater cohesion to slope soil. Therefore, in the erosion prevention and control of sand-crossing highway slope, caragana microphylla and salix mongolica can be used as a composite configuration mode for vegetation construction, so as to realize multi-directional ecological protection of the slope.
