SUMMARY

A numerical simulation model of the roller test stand located at Munich and loaded by a bogie is discussed including its technical structure, the governing physical equations of motion and the structure of the simulation program.

Both, the set up of the mathematical and numerical models time and the computation time of simulation runs have been considerably reduced (by a factor of 20) using formula manipulation programs.

Simulation results concerning the
  • starting behaviour of a bogie,

  • stationary limit cycle behaviour of bogies with ideal and wear profile and

  • influence of gauge changes and spring/damper modifications on limit cycle behaviour of a bogie are presented, some of which are compared with experimental results gained from test facility measurements. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results and provide an experimental verification of the roller rig simulation model presented.

ABSTRACT

With higher level of vehicle automation, it becomes increasingly important to know the maximum possible tyre forces during normal driving. An interesting method in this respect is estimating the tyre–road friction from the resonance peak in the wheel speed signal, excited by road roughness. A simulation environment using the MF-Swift tyre model is proposed, which gives insight in the correctness and functioning of this method. From implementing the estimation algorithm and considering the tyre torsional vibration system, it is concluded that frequencies and damping ratios can be estimated with reasonable accuracy and that the trends observed with changing road friction are consistent. Furthermore, the proposed simulation environment gives opportunity to investigate other issues like robustness of the estimation method to road roughness. Additionally, the tyre modelling aspect of the estimation method is analysed and improvements are proposed.  相似文献

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) braking tests with two subcompact passenger cars were performed on dry and wet asphalt, as well as on snow and ice surfaces. The operating conditions of the tyres in terms of wheel slip were evaluated using histograms of the wheel slip data. The results showed different average slip levels for different road surfaces. It was also found that changes in the tyre tread stiffness affected the slip operating range through a modification of the slip value at which the maximum longitudinal force is achieved. Variation of the tyre footprint length through modifications in the inflation pressure affected the slip operating range as well. Differences in the slip distribution between vehicles with different brake controllers were also observed. The changes in slip operating range in turn modified the relative local sliding speeds between the tyre and the road. The results highlight the importance of the ABS controller's ability to adapt to changing slip–force characteristics of tyres and provide estimates of the magnitude of the effects of different tyre and road operating conditions.  相似文献

Advanced simulation of the stability and handling properties of bicycles requires detailed road–tyre contact models. In order to develop these models, in this study, four bicycle tyres are tested by means of a rotating disc machine with the aim of measuring the components of tyre forces and torques that influence the safety and handling of bicycles. The effect of inflation pressure and tyre load is analysed. The measured properties of bicycle tyres are compared with those of motorcycle tyres.  相似文献

Shimmy is an engineering example of self-excited vibrations. Much research on shimmy has considered the tyre as a positive feedback or negative damping to introduce instability of the entire system. In this context, we focus on the behaviour of the tyre under periodic excitations. The Von Schlippe tyre model is selected and the energy flow method is applied to illustrate the energy transfer by the tyre during shimmy. The energy flow method evaluates the tyre performance with a prescribed sinusoidal motion and provides a novel evaluation method for tyre models. With the help of straight contact line assumption in the Von Schlippe tyre model, the relative motion between the contact line and the wheel centre is studied to understand the path dependency of the energy transfer. It turns out that the tyre is extracting energy from the forward motion to induce unstable lateral and yaw vibrations when the motion or orientation of the contact line has a phase lead with respect to the wheel centre.  相似文献

利用有限元软件ANSYS建立三维有限元模型,模拟车轮和土壤的静态接触,进行非线性有限元分析,研究车轮荷载下土壤的静力学特性。采用基于Drucker-Prager的弹塑性模型来模拟真实土壤,并考虑摩擦作用。分别采用刚性轮模型和超弹性轮胎模型模拟车轮,并将2种情况进行对比。结果表明:在车轮荷载作用下,土壤的竖向位移和等效应力在轮胎与土壤接触的区域最大;土壤的竖向位移和等效应力随土壤深度的增加而减小;土体在刚性轮作用下的变形和应力要远大于其在超弹性轮作用下的值,表明虽然刚性轮几何形状简单,模型设置容易,但是与超弹性轮胎模型相比,这种模拟精确度低。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

During straight-ahead running, the longitudinal axis of road vehicles, notably cars, is not parallel to road axis. This occurrence is general and is due both to road cross slope (road banking) and to tyre characteristics, particularly ply-steer and conicity. In order to describe such a phenomenon, the paper develops a new and relatively simple analytical model. Despite the model is linear, the solution which is provided is exact, since straight-ahead motion occurs with small angles and both the elastokinematics of suspension system and tyre characteristics can be modelled by linearised equations. The Handling Diagram theory is updated and completed by introducing the actual shifts of tyre characteristics. The validation of the analytical expressions is performed by using a MSC AdamsTM full model of a car. A subjective-objective experimental test campaign provides preliminary substantiation of the ability of the derived formulae to describe tyre performance. By means of the unreferenced analytical formulae developed in the paper, we allow, given the vehicle, the proper tyre design specification and vice-versa. In particular, a formula is given to make null the steering torque during straight-ahead driving. The derived analytical formulae may provide a sound understanding of the straight-ahead running of road vehicles.  相似文献

In this study, experiments are conducted to investigate tyre-enveloping characteristics. Four different types of tyres are tested. Parameters such as different tyre inflation pressures, vertical loads and types of obstacles (cleats) are considered. In addition to vertical stiffnesses of all tyres, vertical and horizontal force variations while traversing different obstacles at low speed are studied. The effects of inflation pressure and vertical load on variations of force and moment are investigated. Static test results showed that after a certain vertical displacement, all curves in force–deflection diagrams plotted with and without cleat intersect regardless of cleat and tyre types, depending on the inflation pressure of the tyre, which can be called typical static tyre-enveloping characteristics. Test results at low speed show that there is a considerable influence of the vertical load on vertical and lateral force responses of a tyre.  相似文献

Increasing the stability of a motorcycle requires an understanding of the optimal conditions of the tyre. The inflation pressure is one of the main parameters that directly affects the tyre properties, which in turn influences motorcycle stability and safety. This paper focuses on the effect of the inflation pressure of the tested tyres on motorcycle weave stability. Experimental data are collected from tests carried out in straight running at constant speed. The data analysis is based on stochastic subspace identification methods. Simulations are performed using an advanced motorcycle multi-body code with parameters measured from the tested vehicle. Finally, the comparison between simulations and experimental tests is discussed. The research results show an agreement between experimental tests and simulations where weave stability increases with inflation pressure for the specified range of tyre pressure.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The tyre plays a fundamental role in the generation of acoustically perceptible driving noise and vibrations inside the vehicle. An essential part of these vibrations is induced by the road excitation and transferred via the tyre into the vehicle. There are two basic ways to study noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) behaviour: Simulations in time and frequency domains. Modelling the tyre transfer behaviour in frequency domain requires special attention to the rotation of the tyre. This paper shows the approach taken by the authors to include the transfer behaviour in the frequency range up to 250?Hz from geometric road excitations to resulting spindle forces in frequency domain. This paper validates the derived NVH tyre model by comparison with appropriate transient simulations of the base transient model.  相似文献

Wheel–rail contact calculations are essential for simulating railway vehicle dynamic behavior. Currently, these simulations usually use the Hertz contact theory to calculate normal forces and Kalker's ‘FASTSIM’ program to evaluate tangential stresses. This article presents models for wheels and tyres in the application field of real-time multi-body systems. For this rather broad class of applications it is difficult to foresee the right level of model complexity that is affordable in a specific simulation. Therefore we developed a tyre model that is adjustable in its degree of complexity. It consists of a list of stepwise developed sub-models, each at a higher level of complexity. These models include semi-empirical equations. The stepwise development process is also reflected in the corresponding implementation with the modelling language Modelica. The final wheel model represents a supermodel and enables users to select the right level of complexity in an unambiguous way.  相似文献

Stress distributions on three orthogonal directions have been measured across the contact patch of truck tyres using the complex measuring system that contains a transducer assembly with 30 sensing elements placed in the road surface. The measurements have been performed in straight line, in real rolling conditions. Software applications for calibration, data acquisition, and data processing were developed. The influence of changes in inflation pressure and rolling speed on the shapes and sizes of truck tyre contact patch has been shown. The shapes and magnitudes of normal, longitudinal, and lateral stress distributions, measured at low speed, have been presented and commented. The effect of wheel toe-in and camber on the stress distribution results was observed. The paper highlights the impact of the longitudinal tread ribs on the shear stress distributions. The ratios of stress distributions in the truck tyre contact patch have been computed and discussed.  相似文献

The robustness of an existing numerical method for the time-optimal control of the race car is demonstrated through its application to a model of a Formula 1 car equipped with a simplified thermodynamic tyre model. The tyre model includes a temperature- and frequency-dependent model of road/tyre friction. A lumped parameter approach is used to model the thermodynamics of the various parts of the tyre such as the tread, carcass and inflation gas. The influence of tyre, track surface and ambient temperatures on time-optimal manoeuvring is presented.  相似文献
