| Abstract: | In this paper,the methods of utilizing the converters as circuit breakers for system protection is investigated.The converters detect the short-circuit faults by monitoring the currents and isolate the faults by turning of the switches.The system is simulated by PSCAD/EMTDC,short-circuit currents and reactions of the converters under typical short-circuit faults are studied.The effectiveness of the proposed methods is to open mind for the shipboard protection. |
