DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF THE SPI NAL-COLUMN MYELOMA COMPLICATED WITH PARAPLEGIA A Report of 7 Cases

7 cases of spinal-column myeloma complicated with Parapl,egia are reported. Erroneous diagnosis in all of them had been made before operation. After operation correct result was achieved by pathologic examination.The para plegia patient who is over 40 years may be considered as spinal—column myeloma if he has prog ressive history of severe lumbago and backache and the cause of pain is still unknown, his E. S. R. speeds up, there is a fixed tenderness in the vertebra or a backward convex deformity and roentgenogram shows normal bone tissue, osteoporosis, destruction as soap bubble or compression therefore the patient should be relatively exam ined.A thoroug, h decompression of laminectomy should be suggested in the early stage of this disease. In the majority of cases paraplegia can be recovered. The effect of treatment consoliated and the course of the disease prolonged if the papient is given radiotherapy and chemotherapy after operation.
