An Analysis and Discussion on Safety of Berthing and Unberthing Operation Concerning Large-Sized Container Ship During Gale and Rough Sea

Because bearing area of large - sized container vessels is bigger than others. The gale and rough sea will bring more hidden accidents and risks to ships as the ship berthing and unberthing, which should be defended earnestly. This paper analyzes the influence the wind, wave and current will give to the container ship as it is berthing and unberthing. In the light of the pilot practice, this paper puts forward a few countermeasures when the ship is berthing and unbearthing.
