Single Currency and Identification: Social Psychological Analysis of British Attitude to Euro

In the process of European integration, Britain has stayed out of the Euro zone until today. Rational choices cannot convincingly explain British attitude to Euro. A social psychological analysis shows that it is not because of material interests that Britain refused to enter the Euro zone. the "Us-and-them" mentality of Britain in treating Europe prevents it from identifying with Europe, has strong effects on British European Policy and constitutes the real reason for British to reject the Euro.
