Application of Pareto Statistic Method to Cut down Construction Cost

The paper outlines the fundamentals of the Pareto statistic method and, in conjunction with the construction of a working boat wharf in Nanjiang area of Tianjin Port, presents an analysis of the works with the Pareto statistic method. With the analysis, the key items and their contents where the construction cost was to reduce and percentage of cost reduction were defined, thus formulating the cost control and economizing measures accordingly for the project. Preferable results have been achieved with the implementation of these measures.
