New Development and Trend of Automatic Transmission Technologies

With the constant perfection in theory, design and manufacturing technologies of vehicle automatic transmission, its application scopes become wider and wider. It is pointed out in this paper that the trends of automatic transmission technologies are using more number of speed, electronification in control and the shifting of self-locking region of hydraulic torque converter towards low speed range, as well as the miniaturization and the growth in capacity and strength of its components; while the technologies of continuously variable transmission develop towards lightweight, small size, and higher capacity and the optimization in control.
