Calculation of Scour Depth for Highway Subgrade Along Rivers

Retaining wall or stone pitching is often used to prevent riverside subgrade scour. Confirming detail scour depth reasonably is important for the embedded depth of retaining wall foundation. On the basis of analyzing influencing factors of riverside subgrade scour and measuring results of retaining wall scour in the south of Gansu Province, the formulas of local scour are studied and established,it shows that the results calculated with formulas are consistent with measured data.
