A New Method of Evaluating the Vulnerability of Naval Vessel to Shock Loadings

The survivability of naval vessel to shock loadings is one of its main performance factors. The correct evaluation for vulnerability of naval vessel after shock is the premise to design, to manage and to optimize this important factor. In order to overcome some shortcomings of former analysis methods, a new method is presented in the paper, which regards evaluating vulnerability as a classification problem to solve.The technique of Support Vector Machine is applied and the model of predicting the vulnerability of naval vessel after shock is established according to limited training samples.As an illustrative instance,the vulnerability of a naval vessel's subsystem is evaluated, which shows this new method is highly effective and it is likely to be applied extensively in the study of naval vessel's survivability.
