Welding Defect of Flash-butt Welding and Elimination Methods

Some welding defects of flash-butt welding are frequently detected by the periodic survey, which have bad effect on the quality of welded joint during the manufacture. In order to ensure the quality of welded joint and eliminate this welding defect, chemicals of this defect were examinated. The results show that this defect arises from lack of bond in the welding joint. The welding equipment and technology may not be compatible any more. The causes are analyzed from the welding equipment, the component of rail and welding technology, the analysis indicates that improving process parameter and perfecting the welding equipment can eliminate the welding defect. Meanwhile, the condition of the welding equipment is very important for the quality of welding joint, and more attention should be paid to the compatibility between technical parameters and the welding equipment.
