Open Caisson Construction Scheme on Main Piers of Extra-long Bridges and the Monitoring & Control

Sinking of open caisson is the key procedure during construction, success of which will put great positive influence on the execution of the entire project. Thus, it is the key point to do this procedure well. On the basis of the experience of open caisson experience in the construction of Kaveri Bridge in Tamil Nadu of India, this paper illustrates different problems that might be met during the sinking of steel shell open caisson in various geological stratum, and the solutions are put forwards also.
