Abstract:This paper introduces the development of large trailing suction hopper dredgers in the world in last 20-30 years,and then highlights the design of a 16888 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger,the largest in China,including the vessels general performance,the complex dredging system with large diameter dredging pipe and box-shaped predumping doors and large cone-shaped bottom doors,the power system of one input and three outputs,the electrical system of an AC main generator from a primary PTO on the gearbox for propeller drive.
