The Influences of Developments of Heavy Haul Freight Cars on Empty/Load Brake Equipment |

| Abstract: | The necessity to mount the empty/load brake equipment on heavy haul freight cars due to change of the gross-to-tare ratio in order to reduce empty-car brake cylinder pressures is analyzed. In the mean time, the effect of low brake cylinder pressures on the braking rate and the piston travel of brake cylinders is analyzed. It is considered that the net braking ratio is the main factor affecting the braking ratio. |
