Application Prospect of GIS in Urban Rail Transit

With the expansion of urban rail transit and the formation of its network, the requirements for its surveying and design, integrated coordination ability and quick responses are upgraded. Utilizing the functions of GIS in terms of data input, storage, exploration, display and integrated analyses, a quick and accurate modern management approach for urban rail transit and its information processing is provided. In addition, by means of the three-dimensional visualization functions of GIS the visualization of the management of basic data of urban rail transit can be realized, enabling the information management of rail transit construction to develop from the form of letters and tables to the expression of figures, reports, three-dimensional simulation and even to four-dimensional time-spatial dynamic information expression.
