Abstract:Based on the EKET 19 km road and bridge project in Akwa Iborn State,Nigeria,the variation of shear strength index of red clay under drying and wetting cycles was studied.The results show that both the direct shear strength index and triaxial shear strength index change in accordance with the dry and wet cycles,the strength index decreases with the increase of drying and wetting cycle times.When drying and wetting cycles 0
