Application of Casting Type Asphalt Concrete to Surfacing of Orthotropic Plate Steel Bridge Deck

The Shengli Huanghe River Bridge is a new type of steel box girder cable-stayed bridge. Owing to the actual need, the steel deck of the Bridge was completely rehabilitated and the rehabilitation covered the construction of dismantling of the existing deck surfacing and replacing of a new layer of surfacing. In this paper, the key techniques for application of the casting type asphalt concrete to the surfacing of the orthotropic plate steel deck of the Bridge are presented and the techniques for proportioning and production process control of the concrete, testing, transportation and laying of the concrete in field are described as well.
