陈修园医学教育思想初探

Preliminary Study of Chen Xiu-yuan's Thought on Medical Education

Chen Xiu-yuan was a famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in the Qing Dynasty. According to Dr Chen Xiu-yuan's exposition, we have analysed his thought on medical education. Theteathing principle Chen Xiu-yuan put forward is that a simple and easy teaching method enables the student to understand and the medical knowledge studied should be practical. He advocated that to study medicine well, one should read more, practise more and be good at thinking, and that the teaching material should be easy to be understood and to be memorized. He suggested that when giving lessons, the teacher should be good at guiding, devote much attention to reasoning and sum up his experiences of both success and failure. He was always ready to pass on his knowledge and skill. He upheld that a strict assessment of the doctor's proficiency should be made. In a word, Chen Xiu-yuan was a famous thinker and practitioner of medical education.
