| Abstract: | Failures of axles in freight transport of North American Railroad are analyzed. The stress analysis calculations performed on the Class F and Class K axles using finite element analysis are described. The effects of changes in axle dimensions on the stress results is researched. Recommendations for improved heavy haul axle designs are offered. |
