Choice of Speed Target Value is the core index of intercity railway design.It is chosen primarily to meet the passenger demand,and regional coordination of other transportation modes,and adapt to social and economic development along the principle,reflect the will attract passenger traffic,reduce engineering investment to maximize the benefits.Target value is decided by the passenger flow characteristics,time target selection and specific multiple speed target value.Taking the choice of speed target value of intercity railway from Changsha to Changde as an example,this paper expounded the speed target value selection modes and methods in the railway design.
