Measures Taken by Tokyo Metropolitan Area to Deal with the Ultra-high Transfer Coefficient of Rail Transit and Their Implications

This paper introduces a series of measures taken by Tokyo metropolitan area to deal with the ultra-high transfer coefficient of rail transit, including the large-scale survey of rail transit every five years, analysis of transfer characteristics, and transfer optimization measures. The optimization measures and experiences in rail transit network planning, operation organization, facility transformation, and passenger flow organization are classified and summarized. On this basis, some suggestions for transfer optimization for the urban rail transit system in China are put forward.
