Ship Type Analysis of New Generation 8 000 Class Unit Post-Panamax PCTC

New generation 8 000 class unit post-panamax PCTC is the largest type that can berth in the Japanese key ports with the advantage of less ballast waters and higher vehicles loading capacity. Nowadays ,there are only two types of 8 000 class CEU post-panamax PCTC in the world,Hero series and New Horizon series. In this paper,from the aspects of main particulars,general arrangement,ship speed v.s EEDI,pillars,outer and inner ramps of these two types were described and their advantageswere analyzed. The conclusion was obtained that in order to further optimize and develop 8 000 class unit post-panamax PCTC,the operation profile of shipping company could be focused on.
