Building Beijing BRT System, Setting up Sustainable Developing Urban Traffic Model

The rapid transit in the south-central axis of Beijing is the first BRT system in China. The characteristics of large transportation,fast speed,safe and reliable,on-time and comfortable, green environmental protection play the important role on the traffic in the southern part of Beijing. The article introduces in detail the special design of the south-central axis BRT rapid transit in Beijing from the aspects of the line layout,special lane,vehicle,toll system and public traffic first at intersection,and sets forth the relative investigation result after the construction of this BRT system. The investigation result makes clear that this new transporting model of rapid transit meets the eco- nomical developing situation in China,which has been accepted by the people.
