Design of Ski-jump Ramp for Aircraft Carrier

Abstract:Basically, the ski-jump consists of a curved inclined ramp installed in the bow of the carrier. An aircraft traversing the ski-jump follows its curved profile is launched into an upward ballistic trajectory. Ramps have been used for many years aboard the ships of many countries to reduce the tuning distance of takeoff. This paper presents an analysis of the characteristics of ski-jump ramp and its function. The study of the typical ramps of three kinds of profile was compared. The corresponding relations between the function expression and curves are derived and the basic characteristic values of ramp design are obtained in the assumed situation. The results can only be a reference for the engineering application.
