This paper describes metal sheet ramming forming,which is the key manufacture technology of automotive cover panels, and its important position.it presents the causes of the defects （fracturing, thinning, wrinkling）, and the in - fluencing factors （material parameters, die-surface parameters, manufacture process parameters）.Through an analysis of parameter simulation of the scroll of a certain type car engine, a more intuitive understanding of the factors in pressing forming is made and the suggestions are given for solving the defects.
