| Abstract: | With the project of the cable-stayed bridge of the sixth-ring road of Beijing as a practical example, the construction of which uses the technique of swivel erection at the top of the pier,the design theory and the calculation processes for vase-shaped piers are presented in the paper. Besides, the design methods and principles for the design of the pier are introduced in detail according to the characteristics of forces which act on the swivel pier at the swivel erection stage. |
