试论纽曼的《大学理想》对我国高等教育大众化发展的启示

纽曼是英国著名的教育思想家，他的大学理念对19世纪后半期以来的高等教育有着深远影响。文中在梳理纽曼教学思想的基础上，结合我国近几年高校扩招的实际情况，提出当前高校大众化发展进程中仍需要高校平衡教师教学与研究的关系，以自由教育为基础重视学生的普通教育和文科学习，强化高等教育的内涵建设，不断提升教育质量。

The Enlightenments of Newman's Idea of a University for Chinese Mass Higher Education

Newman is a famous British educational thinker. His Idea of a University has profound influence on the higher education in the latter half of the nineteenth Century. This paper, based on the teaching idea of Newman, combining the actual situation of enrollment expansion of Chinese colleges and universities in recent years, puts forward suggestions on the need to balance the relationship between teachers＇ teaching and research in the massification proof Chinese higher education, paying great attention to the students＇ general education and liberal arts studies on the basis of free education, strengthening the connotative construction in Higher Education and improving education quality constantly.
