Abstract:The urban public transportation network requires substantial adjustments after the large-scale construction of urban rail transit in Shanghai. As a result, the bus network of the central area needs a structural change. This paper analyzes the problems about the public transportation network of Shanghai central area and the features of public transportation network in Tokyo and Paris such as the size, structure and line layout. According to the supply and demand characteristics of public transportation network in Shanghai central area and by referring to Tokyo and Palis's experience, this paper puts forward three strategies of adjustment: to reduce the bus lines with high degree of overlapping, to rebuild the bus network on secondary roads as the backbone lines of regular bus service in the central area, to supplement the partial bus networks focusing on rail transit hubs or transfer stations.
