Impacts of Car-use Restriction Measures on Residents and Their Effectiveness Economics and Management School,Beijing liaotong University

To solve the congestion problem in Beijing, the Beijing urban traffic management department has implemented various measures to limit car use since 2008. Through questionnaire survey, this paper analyzes the impacts of car-use restriction measures on Beijing residents and the effectiveness of such measures. The survey showed that these measures have changed the way of people travel, instead of private cars, some residents began to use public transport. By analyzing the changes in recent years in terms of the number of road motor vehicles, the reduction of travel time, and the change in the way that people travel and other factors, it＇s demonstrated that the effectiveness of ear-use restriction measures are obvious in the short term. With the number of motor vehicles to increase, their effectiveness is gradually decreased. In order to solve the traffic congestion problem we can not rely solely on traffic restrictions.
