Mechanics Characteristics of Single Column Pier Continuous Box Girder

Taking a single column pier continuous girder bridge with one box and two rooms as an example, by comparing and analyzing with grillage analytical method and planar frames method, the paper analyzes the mechanical differences qualitatively between the side web and middle web in a specified condition and describes the mechanics characterics of middle cross diaphram and its influences on inner force distribution of middle web. General mechanical characteristics and the essence of design of the single column pier continuous girder bridge are also given according to the mechanical characteristics comparison between general double column support and single column support.
