Based on the finding from on-site inspection that some ships use PVC pipes as ventilation ducts without permission and in view of the applicable technological specification, the paper analyzes the requirements on the utilization of plastic pipes as ventilation ducts in the engine room of ships, and puts forward matters to be noted in relevant ship inspections.
