Product Design from Standardization to Customization

The history of human industrialization has experienced three development stages from manual operation to assembly line production and then to flexible manufacturing. Among them,large-scale assembly line production is the peak of standardized application. Because assembly line production has the highest requirements for standardization, it puts forward strict requirements for product design standardization, process standardization and production standardization. However,with the further deepening of China’s industrialization, the market competition is becoming more and more fierce, and there are more and more homogeneous products. In order to further improve the competitiveness of their products, more and more enterprises begin to try to provide customized products and services to meet the deep-seated needs of customers, in order to occupy more markets.Therefore, it is a general trend for product design ideas to move from standardization to customization.
