Globalization and development of freight forwarder—— An interview of President Aldo Da Ros of International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations

At the seminar sponsored by the China Interna tional Freight Forwarders Association(CIFA) in Beijing on November 13-15, 2002, two journalists from the publication China Ocean Shipping Monthly interviewed Mr. Aldo Da Ros, President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations(FIATA). New-Level VR Marine Training System

Marine simulator is a valuable and effective medium for maritime education and training and is becoming widespread to foster the qualified and competent personnel for working in the maritime industry.However,many problems with most marine simulation systems today limit their pervasive use:the limited accessibility,immobility,the high expenditure,the long develop- meat cycle,and the difficult maintenance etc.A web-based maritime training environment is proposed in this paper as a new ma- rine training level,which fully combining web technology,VR,high fidelity simulation,and e-learning tools to create a more cost- effective and flexible training environment still with very realistic and high-interactive simulation characteristics,the system will provide a consistent and more flexible training medium for improving maritime education and training.     

2015 2nd International Conference on Coastal and Ocean Engineering （ICCOE 2015）

As everyone knows, the three major ocean carriers in China is China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and SINOTRANS, among which COSCO is the largest shipping conglomerate in China and has suitably grand plans for the future. It is April 18th again,an unforgettable date for us. 20 Vears ago, liulinhai from China Ocean Shipping Company(COSCO), the first cargo ship anchored at Seattle. It ushered in a new chapter and therefore bullt up an ocean-crossing bridge of Sino-US shipping business. Over the past 20 yearS,ships of COSCO. which shuttled between China and the United States, carrying friendship between the two countries and best wishes for peace and development, promoted greatly the Sino-US trade.

China International Marine Containers (Group), one of the pioneer container manufacturers and Sino-foreign joint ventures in China, was founded by China Merchants Holdings and the East Asiatic Company Ltd. in January 1980 and put into operation on 22nd September 1982. CIMC became a tri-party joint venture after COSCO joined in. CIMC went to the public in 1993 and has been listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange market since April 1994. The operation of CIMC started to run as a group structure in 1995.

Yang Ming charters four vessels Yang Ming Line recently signed a 3—year long lease agreement to charter 4 vessels of 1100TEU which will be delivered in November from Great Union Shipping Corp. These four carriers all fly Singapore flag. By doing so, Yang Ming is preparing for direct connections between Taiwan and Mainland as well as navigtion between Taiwan and Hongkong after 1997.     

The Present Situation and Future Prospect of the World Shipping Industry

Ⅰ. Shipping After entering into the 1990's, the ship-building industry, badly affected by the long recession of the world shipping market, has been growing very slowly, while the competition has been a fierce one. From the shares enjoyed by the major shipping countries in the world, we can see that the first one is Japan which occupied 38%; South Korea came to the second,obtaining 15％; the third is Germany, being 8%. The shipbuilding industry in America is shrinking, owing to the high cost of production. Up to 1993,Japanese ship yards had still been in difficult situation, and many Japanese ship owners would rather order new ships from South Korea because the rising value of Japanese yen made it expensive to build in domestic yards. AN ANALYSIS OF SOME FACTORS OF THE TRAINING OF CHINESE SAILORS

Ministry of Communications of P. R. China has successfully organized some dozens of classes to train ship officers, and given corresponding tests, which played a very important part in improving the whole educational level of sailors in our country.
