Some results obtained during developing a new approach to analysis of conditions of self-excitation of lateral vibrations of railway vehicles as systems of variable structure are given in this article. Structure variability is conditioned by the state of constraints with dry friction. An idea of the replacement of a nonlinear multibody system by a number of subsystems, which are linearized in a certain way, is worked out. The efficiency of the method suggested for the determination of the characteristics of self-excited vibrations of active multibody systems with dry friction is illustrated by way of an example of the investigation of the dynamic behaviour of a freight car.  相似文献

SUMMARY

The problems of critical speeds of railway vehicles with dry friction units determination are discussed. A new approach is used which extends the field of application of dynamic response linear analysis methods to vital nonlinear multibody systems. The special features concerning the influence of dry friction forces in the body supports on the trucks and parameters of horizontal constraints of wheelsets and truck frames on critical speed are indicated. It is shown that a significant rising of railway vehicle critical speeds can be reached by changing the structure of constraints between the body and the trucks.  相似文献

SUMMARY

Multibody codes are'efficient tools to simulate nonlinear dynamic behaviour of rigid and flexible multibody systems undergoing large overall motions overlaid by small elastic deformation. This paper gives an overview of common approaches for the equations of motion of flexible body models and presents a general way to prepare the required data including geometric stiffening terms. In particularly, for the nodal approach the data are derived using standard results of a finite element analysis of the body. The computation of coefficient matrices describing the equations of motion is done outside the finite element code by matrix manipulations only. The data are stored in a standardised object-oriented structure. Consequently, the data set is independent of the formulation of the multibody system code.  相似文献

SUMMARY

This paper pursues two objectives: Firstly, to review the state-of-the-art of general purpose vehicle system dynamics software and secondly, to describe two representatives, the program MEDYNA and the program NEWEUL. The general modeling requirements for vehicle dynamics software, the multibody system approach and a comparative discussion of multibody software are given. The two programs NEWEUL and MEDYNA are described with respect to modeling options, computational methods, software engineering as well as their interfaces to other software. The applicability of these programs is demonstrated on two selected examples, one from road vehicle problems and the other from wheel/rail dynamics. It is concluded that general purpose software based on multibody formalisms will play the same role for mechanical systems, especially vehicle systems, as finite element methods play for elastic structures.  相似文献

SUMMARY

This paper describes a multiport approach to computer-aided modeling of vehicle dynamics. The modeling approach produces models that are suitable for the interactive design and evaluation of complex control strategies. The vehicle model which can be used for ride and handling analysis, is built from modular components. The components are programmed using the syntax of the computer aided control system design (CACSD) program EASYS. Seven modeling components are used to create a three-dimensional vehicle dvnamics model. The model is flexible enoug-h to simulate any suspension design with revolute joints.

Each component of the model consists of a FORTRAN subroutine and a main calling module called a macro. To simplify the process of model building, the modeling components in the car model are designed to represent physical elements, such as the spring, damper, link or tire. To create a model, the components, which are represented by blocks, are interconnected through points, located on the blocks, called pons. These ports have been designed to simulate the location of the connection points between the physical elements, as observed in real systems. The construction of multibody models within a CACSD program offers the flexibility of simultaneous interactive simulation of the three-dimensional dvnamics and evaluation of the desien of the controls.

Although modeling of multibody systems using FORTRAN components has been pioneered by Chace, Haug and Orlandea; and bond graph modeling of multibody systems has been investigated by Bos, this approach is novel because:-

The model is included in the control system design program (EASYS). This arrangement allows the designer to exploit the advanced control design tools available in the program. Furthermore, this approach significantly reduces the computation time required for running the model after parameters modification.

The model is built from components that are interconnected by ports which represent the actual physical location of the connection points between the elements. The multiport approach simplifies the model building process for multibody systems. This simplification is achieved by reducing the model of a multibody system to a block diagram form.  相似文献

The method of multibody systems is introduced for the modeling of nonlinear vehicle systems. The equations of motion and the equations of reaction are found. For the dynamical analysis a classification of nonlinear phenomena is presented using objective and subjective criteria. On the basis of the brush-type tyre model the paper considers the interaction between steady-state rolling deformable wheel and flat road surface as well as corresponding force and moment characteristics of the wheel.

At least two zones of sliding, anisotropic dry friction, sliding friction coefficient speed-dependent and instantaneous leap of the friction coefficient when transition from sliding to adhesion zone occurs, have been taken into account, as well as distributed peripheral mass of tyre, elasticity, pseudo-dry friction and damping properties in radial, tangential and lateral directions of the elements at the wheel periphery, including a visco-elastic belt. Vertical force distribution in the contact area is not supposed to be known in advance and follows from the calculation. As a result, sliding zone lengths, distributed forces in contact area, six components of generalized road reaction reduced to the wheel center, and rolling resistance moment are found as functions of vertical load, movement velocity, longitudinal and side slip, friction in contact area with road, stiffnesses, dry friction and damping in the tyre model elements and of distributed peripheral mass.

A computer program developed in Fortran and results of calculations are of particular interest for qualitative analysis including steady rolling of studded tyre and also racing car and aircraft tyres which peripheral mass shows itself in a special way because of great movement velocities.  相似文献

Abstract

Vehicle offtracking behavior at low speeds is closely approximated by a geometric entity called a tractrix. This paper presents differential equations for generalized coordinates of a planar multibody vehicle model based on tractrix behavior. The equations are exact, can be used with any type of input path, are valid for forward and backward movements, and are much simpler than previously published formulations used to compute transient offtracking. The differential equations can be integrated using conventional numerical integration algorithms to obtain plots of the low-speed tracking performance of articulated vehicles. The equations were formulated symbolically by a computer program used to analyze the kinematic and dynamic behavior of multibody systems. Example numerical results are plotted.  相似文献

SUMMARY

For multibody systems with closed kinematic Loops a set of ordinary differential equations and decoupled algebraic equations is formulated which can be solved with explicit multistep integration algorithms. This is achieved by introducing a minimal set of generalized coordinates being specified during numerical integration. For avoiding restart of the integration algorithm after changing these variables transformation relationships are given. Velocity and acceleration constraints are satisfied exactly, position constraints are fulfilled approximately by a dynamic invariant projection onto the constraint manifold. The method is demonstrated by an application to a five-point wheel suspension.  相似文献

This paper describes the present state of a general purpose computer program for calculating the dynamic response of vehicles travelling over guideways which may be elastic.

The linearized state-equations of motion for general multibody vehicles are constructed automatically by the program, these equations are supplemented by the equations for the active subsystems. Finally, the vehicle system equations are combined with the modal equations for elastic guideways and the complete set of coupled equations is solved simultaneously by numerical integration.  相似文献

Previous work in the railway technology laboratory at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) focused on better capturing the dynamics of the friction wedge, modelled using three-dimensional rigid body dynamics with unilateral contact conditions. The current study extends the previous work to a half-bogie model treated as an application of multibody dynamics with unilateral contact to model the friction wedge interactions with the bolster and the sideframe. The half-bogie model was derived using MATLAB and functions as a three dimensional, dynamic, and multibody dynamics model comprised of four rigid bodies: a bolster, two friction wedges, and a sideframe assembly. This expanded model allows each wedge four degrees of freedom: vertical displacement, longitudinal displacement (between the bolster and sideframe), pitch (rotation around the lateral axis), and yaw (rotation around the vertical axis). The bolster and the sideframe are constrained to have only the vertical degree of freedom. The geometry of these bodies can be adjusted for various simulation scenarios. The bolster can be initialised with a pre-defined yaw (rotation around the vertical axis) and the sideframe may be initialised with a pre-defined pitch/toe (rotation around the lateral axis). The results of the multibody dynamics in half-bogie model simulation are shown in comparison with results from NUCARS®, an industry standard in train-modelling software, for similar inputs.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In multi-body dynamics, we model a non-conformal wheel/rail contact at one centre point since this contact is flat and Hertzian. However, the quasi-conformal contact requires more points since the contact is curved and non-Hertzian. The methodology in solving these points during dynamic simulations is the basis of this development. In this online effort, first, we present a general contact joint and the gutter search method of Pascal and Jourdan [The rigid-multi-Hertzian method as applied to conformal contacts. USA: ASME; 2007] in the context of a multi-body approach. Next, by adopting the non-iterative approach, a subset of these points with positive profile interpenetrations is selected to idealise one curved contact by a set of multi-Hertzian patches for which the Hertz normal contact solution is available. Finally, the feasibility of this multibody approach together with its implementation in two different codes is evaluated by simulating the motion of an isolated wheelset with realistic inertia. On tangent tracks, the wheelset with non-conformal pairing displays self-excited unstable oscillations while it displays a stable behaviour below a critical speed with conformal profiles. A further study reveals the net friction losses at multiple patches within the curved contact being the reason for the stable behavior.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The road roughness acts as a disturbance input to the vehicle dynamics, and causes undesirable vibrations associated with the ride and handing characteristics. Furthermore, the accurate measurement of road roughness plays a key role in better understanding a vehicle dynamic behaviour and active suspension control systems. However, the direct measurement by laser profilometer or other distance sensors are not trivial due to technical and economic issues. This study proposes a new road roughness estimation method by using the discrete Kalman filter with unknown input (DKF-UI). This algorithm is built on a quarter-car model and uses the measurements of the wheel stroke (suspension deflection), and the acceleration of the sprung mass and unsprung mass. The estimation results are compared to the measurements by laser profilometer in-vehicle test.  相似文献

The calculations are made with the multibody program MEDYNA using direct covariance analysis. This report gives a preview to a state-of-the-art paper and a special session which are devoted to the problem of the applicability of multibody computer codes to vehicle system dynamics. These activities were initiated at the 11th IAVSD Symposium 1989 in Kingston, CAN, followed by a workshop in Herbertov, CSR, and to be reported at the 12th IAVSD Symposium in Lyon, 1991. Continuously updated knowledge of the friction potential and the friction demand can help to improve manoeuvrability and thereby safety of vehicles under slippery road conditions. An on line friction estimation method is presented using a simple brush type tyre model. First the method is verified by outdoor experiments using a tyre test trailer. Then the setup of a low-cost measurement system in a vehicle is discussed and results from both simulations and outdoor experiments are presented. Neural networks have been used both for modelling and identification of friction potential and friction demand.  相似文献

Friction dampers of mechanical systems are frequently exposed to medium-frequency (M-F) dither generated in the surrounding environment. A dithered system of technical importance is the railway freight wagon with friction dampers in the primary suspension developing two-dimensional friction, where dither is generated by the rolling contact of wheel and rail. This paper presents some results of the investigation of the influence of dither on dry friction damping. This influence has been studied experimentally and theoretically, and the parameters of dither influencing dry friction damping have been indicated. An experimental set-up has been designed that allows investigating friction damping in the presence of dither. The experiments have shown that friction damping in the presence of the M-F dither behaves like viscous damping. This means that dither smoothes dry friction as far as damping is concerned. To investigate this phenomenon theoretically, a rheological model of dry friction has been proposed that is applicable to one- and two-dimensional friction. In the latter case, the model takes into account friction anisotropy. According to performed numerical simulations of freight wagon motion, with dither supplied to the model through measured vertical accelerations of axle boxes, smoothing dry friction by dither strongly influences ride dynamics of the wagon with friction dampers in the primary suspension. Smoothing dry friction by dither should be accounted for in numerical simulations of motion of vehicles with friction dampers in the primary suspension by employing a proper model of the two-dimensional friction and application of realistic dither generated by rolling contact.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The tyre plays a fundamental role in the generation of acoustically perceptible driving noise and vibrations inside the vehicle. An essential part of these vibrations is induced by the road excitation and transferred via the tyre into the vehicle. There are two basic ways to study noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) behaviour: Simulations in time and frequency domains. Modelling the tyre transfer behaviour in frequency domain requires special attention to the rotation of the tyre. This paper shows the approach taken by the authors to include the transfer behaviour in the frequency range up to 250?Hz from geometric road excitations to resulting spindle forces in frequency domain. This paper validates the derived NVH tyre model by comparison with appropriate transient simulations of the base transient model.  相似文献
