Numerical analysis is used to optimize the gate shape of the mold part in the molding process. The objective of this research was to develop a procedure that will optimize the gate shape of the mold part by using Design of Experiments approach. The computer-aided engineering software Moldflow was used to simulate the plastic injection molding process and the Minitab software was used to analyze the computational results from Moldflow. The Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC) UNI-203S thermoset material was chosen as the molding material. Four different types of gate shapes were analyzed to find the gate shape to be used in the optimization. The Type 3 gate shape was selected as basis for the gate optimization because this shape yielded the minimum shear rate around the gate among all. The thickness, width, length and angle of the gate were selected as the design variables. Erosion around a gate due to repetitive shear flow during molding process was considered as an important issue to extend the service life of the expensive mold. It is normally very difficult to prevent erosion due to high injection pressure and repetitive use of the mold, especially in certain molding parts as BMC reflector in automotive parts, so it has become the subject of researches. The effectiveness of design variables was evaluated by observing shear rate around the gate. The objective of the optimization was to minimize the average shear rate around the gate. Response Surface Method was applied to identify the optimum values of the design variables. The computed optimum values were validated numerically. The optimized gate shape showed the reduced shear rate by about 11%.  相似文献

为了研究注塑模具浇口对发动机塑料进气歧管成型质量的影响,缩短进气歧管开发周期,降低成本,提高产品质量,利用Moldflow软件对塑料进气歧管注塑成型中浇口位置及数量进行流动模拟分析,预测可能存在的气泡位置和熔接痕位置,通过比较分析来确定制品注塑成型中的浇口位置和数量。分析结果表明,采用呈规则几何形状分布的4个点浇口为最佳选择。试验证明:按照模拟结果制造模具,试制的产品样件质量较好。  相似文献

轿车前照灯配光镜采用聚碳酸酯(PC)料制作。为克服在注塑中前照灯配光镜出现缺陷,对注塑中工艺进行了优化设置,从选材、设备及工艺参数设置等进行了分析,对烘料设备改进和3台模温机的应用提出了独特想法。产品注塑位置详细计算和成型过程得到较好的控制,解决了成型配光镜中出现的缺陷。经生产实践验证,工艺参数优化设置合理,能防止产品缺陷,保证质量可行,配光镜能得到用户的认同。  相似文献

The cooling system plays a crucial role in determining the productivity and quality of an injection molding process. With the current growth of Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) techniques, mold designers have been striving for not only improvement in cooling system performance but also for a method to do so automatically. In this paper, a method is proposed for developing a conformal cooling system that facilitates uniform cooling over the entire mold surface with minimum cycle time. Based on the temperature distribution after the filling stage, the mold surface is split into zones which will be cooled by optimized subconformal channels obtained from the optimization process. The optimization process in which the objective function is stated as minimization of the cooling time with boundaries ensuring a realistic design will optimize the cooling system layout in terms of cooling channel size and location. Finally, all subcooling channels are combined to generate the entire conformal cooling system for the injection mold.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to present a simulation-based approach capable of predicting the fatigue life of a mold core with the help of CAE technology based on injection molding simulation, core stress analysis and fatigue life prediction. Injection molding simulation is performed in order to obtain the non-uniform pressure acting on a mold core due to the polymer melt flow during injection molding process. Subsequently, the melt pressure profile is used as loading condition for core stress analysis via one-way coupling technique. The lifetime of a mold core is then predicted by fatigue analysis with stress-life approach. For verification of simulation-based approach to the fatigue life prediction, tests were also performed.  相似文献

This paper discusses the final investigation into the effect of fuel stratification on flame propagation. In previous works, the characteristics under the no port-generated swirl condition and the low-swirl condition were considered. For this purpose, the initial flame development and propagation were visualized under different axially stratified states in a modified optical single-cylinder SI engine. The images were captured by an intensified CCD camera through the quartz window mounted in the piston. Stratification was controlled by the combination of the port swirl ratio and injection timing. These were averaged and processed to characterize the flame propagation. The flame stability was estimated by the weighted average of flame area and luminosity. The stability was also evaluated through the standard deviation of flame area and propagation distance and through the mean absolute deviation of the propagation direction. The results show that the LML is expanded remarkably under the high-swirl cases up to the highest relative AFRs of 1.71 and 1.75 between 140 and 160CA. In addition, similar to the low-swirl condition, the flame-flow interaction determines the direction of flame propagation, and the governing roles of the two factors vary according to the swirl level; the flow is more important at the higher swirl conditions, and the flame is more important at the lower swirl condition. Finally, fast and stable flame propagation can be achieved under the preferably stratified condition, which is induced by the suitable combination of the high swirl and injection timing.  相似文献

In this paper, the influence of injection parameters on the transition from Premixed Charge Combustion Ignition (PCCI) combustion to conventional diesel combustion was investigated in an optically accessible High-Speed Direct-Injection (HSDI) diesel engine using multiple injection strategies. The heat release characteristics were analyzed using incylinder pressure for different operating conditions. The whole cycle combustion process was visualized with a high-speed video camera by simultaneously capturing the natural flame luminosity from both the bottom of the optical piston and the side window, showing the three dimensional combustion structure within the combustion chamber. Eight operating conditions were selected to address the influences of injection pressure, injection timing, and fuel quantity of the first injection on the development of second injection combustion. For some cases with early first injection timing and a small fuel quantity, no liquid fuel is found when luminous flame points appear, which shows that premixed combustion occurs for these cases. However, with the increase of first injection fuel quantity and retardation of the first injection timing, the combustion mode transitions from PCCI combustion to diffusion flame combustion, with liquid fuel being injected into the hot flame. The observed combustion phenomena are mainly determined by the ambient temperature and pressure at the start of the second injection event. The start-of-injection ambient conditions are greatly influenced by the first injection timing, fuel quantity, and injection pressure. Small fuel quantity and early injection timing of the first injection event and high injection pressure are preferable for low sooting combustion.  相似文献
