Summary In this paper a sliding mode integral action controller and sliding mode observer are used to enhance vehicle stability in a split- µ manoeuvre. Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) have become an integral part of modern cars, and they have dramatically improved vehicle handling in braking manoeuvres. However, when a vehicle attempts to brake on a surface with uneven friction coefficient such as on wet or icy roads, a so-called split- µ scenario, the yaw moment generated by the asymmetric braking can prove demanding for an inexperienced driver. The controller presented hereworks in conjunction with a conventional ABS system to provide safe and effective braking through steer-by-wire. This paper extends previous state-feedback work by only using certain measurable quantities in the controller, estimating further signals by employing an observer. 相似文献

This paper explores the use of sliding mode observers to detect the onset of potentially dangerous vehicle modes such as oversteer, understeer or split-μ braking. Provided these modes can be detected quickly enough, existing stability controllers can be engaged to ensure safe performance of the vehicle. It is shown that the equivalent output error injection signals associated with the sliding mode observer have distinctive signatures depending on the particular mode encountered. Appropriate thresholds on these signals can be set so the scheme ignores variations which arise during normal driving, but can detect and isolate different undesirable vehicle modes within 0.3 seconds of their onset. 相似文献

A Sliding Mode Controller for Wheel Slip Ratio Control System 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

A sliding mode controller has been developed for a wheel slip ratio control system for commercial vehicles with sluggish braking actuators to replace conventional if-then rule-like ABS control laws. New techniques overcome the tendency of sliding mode controllers to chatter. Computer simulation (hardware-in-the-loop simulation) and actual vehicle tests verified the effectiveness of this method to suppress chattering and keep the wheel slip ratio in a desirable range during braking on low-friction road surfaces. 相似文献

The object of this paper is to design a new hydraulic modulator and an intelligent sliding mode pulse width modulation (PWM) brake pressure controller for an anti-lock braking system, for application to light motorcycles. The paper presents a design principle and a mathematical analysis of the hydraulic anti-lock braking modulator. The intelligent sliding mode PWM brake pressure controller based on vehicle acceleration is designed and tested. A three-phase pavement experiment and a rear brake influence test are undertaken to verify the performance of the controller and the modulator. A light motorcycle is built for the real vehicle anti-lock braking experiments. The experimental results show that both the intelligent controller and the hydraulic modulator designed in the study perform well in the anti-lock braking operation. 相似文献

Emergency brake technologies have always been a major interest of vehicle active safety-related studies. On homogeneous surfaces, traditional anti-lock brake system (ABS) can achieve efficient braking performance and maintain the handling capability as well. However, when road conditions are time variant during the braking process, or different at the bilateral wheels, braking stability performance is likely to be degraded. To address this problem and enhance ABS performances, a practical identifier of road variations is developed in this study. The proposed identifier adopts a statechart-based approach and is hierarchically constructed with a wheel layer and a full vehicle layer identifier. Based on the identification results, modifications are made to a four-phase wheel-behaviour-based ABS controller to enhance its performance. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed identifier in collaborating with the modified ABS controller are examined via simulations and further validated by track tests under various practical braking scenarios. 相似文献

Improvement of drivability and fuel economy with a hybrid antiskid braking system in hybrid electric vehicles 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

When braking on wet roads, Antilock Braking System (ABS) control can be triggered because the available brake torque is not
sufficient. When the ABS system is active, for a hybrid electric vehicle, the regenerative brake is switched off to safeguard
the normal ABS function. When the ABS control is terminated, it would be favorable to reactivate the regenerative brake. However,
recurring cycles from ABS to motor regenerative braking could occur. This condition is felt to be unpleasant by the driver
and has adverse effects on driving stability. In this paper, a novel hybrid antiskid braking system using fuzzy logic is proposed
for a hybrid electric vehicle that has a regenerative braking system operatively connected to an electric traction motor and
a separate hydraulic braking system. This control strategy and the method for coordination between regenerative and hydraulic
braking are developed. The motor regenerative braking controller is designed. Control of regenerative and hydraulic braking
force distribution is investigated. The simulation and experimental results show that vehicle braking performance and fuel
economy can be improved and the proposed control strategy and method are effective and robust. 相似文献

Regenerative braking is an important technology in improving fuel economy of an electric vehicle (EV). However, additional motor braking will change the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle, leading to braking instability, especially when the anti-lock braking system (ABS) is triggered. In this paper, a novel semi-brake-by-wire system, without the use of a pedal simulator and fail-safe device, is proposed. In order to compensate for the hysteretic characteristics of the designed brake system while ensure braking reliability and fuel economy when the ABS is triggered, a novel switching compensation control strategy using sliding mode control is brought forward. The proposed strategy converts the complex coupling braking process into independent control of hydraulic braking and regenerative braking, through which a balance between braking performance, braking reliability, braking safety and fuel economy is achieved. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy is effective and adaptable in different road conditions while the large wheel slip rate is triggered during a regenerative braking course. The research provides a new possibility of low-cost equipment and better control performance for the regenerative braking in the EV and the hybrid EV. 相似文献

This paper proposes an improved virtual reference model for semi-active suspension to coordinate the vehicle ride comfort and handling stability. The reference model combines the virtues of sky-hook with ground-hook control logic, and the hybrid coefficient is tuned according to the longitudinal and lateral acceleration so as to improve the vehicle stability especially in high-speed condition. Suspension state observer based on unscented Kalman filter is designed. A sliding mode controller (SMC) is developed to track the states of the reference model. The stability of the SMC strategy is proven by means of Lyapunov function taking into account the nonlinear damper characteristics and sprung mass variation of the vehicle. Finally, the performance of the controller is demonstrated under three typical working conditions: the random road excitation, speed bump road and sharp acceleration and braking. The simulation results indicated that, compared with the traditional passive suspension, the proposed control algorithm can offer a better coordination between vehicle ride comfort and handling stability. This approach provides a viable alternative to costlier active suspension control systems for commercial vehicles. 相似文献

With the advent of electric vehicles with multiple motors, the steady-state and transient cornering responses can be designed and implemented through the continuous torque control of the individual wheels, i.e., torque-vectoring or direct yaw moment control. The literature includes several papers on sliding mode control theory for torque-vectoring, but the experimental investigation is so far limited. More importantly, to the knowledge of the authors, the experimental comparison of direct yaw moment control based on sliding modes and typical controllers used for stability control in production vehicles is missing. This paper aims to reduce this gap by presenting and analyzing an integral sliding mode controller for concurrent yaw rate and sideslip control. A new driving mode, the Enhanced Sport mode, is proposed, inducing sustained high values of sideslip angle, which can be limited to a specified threshold. The system is experimentally assessed on a four-wheel-drive electric vehicle. The performance of the integral sliding mode controller is compared with that of a linear quadratic regulator during step steer tests. The results show that the integral sliding mode controller significantly enhances the tracking performance and yaw damping compared to the more conventional linear quadratic regulator based on an augmented singletrack vehicle model formulation. 相似文献

A differential braking control strategy using yaw rate feedback, coupled with µ feedforward is introduced for a vehicle cornering on different µ roads. A nonlinear 4-wheel car model is developed. A desired yaw rate is calculated from the reference model based on the driver steering input. It is shown that knowledge of µ offers significant improvement of the vehicle desired trajectory over that of a yaw rate controller alone. Uncertainties and time delay in estimating µ are shown to still yield a system that is superior to using no µ information at all. 相似文献

This paper is concerned with the synthesis of a robust gain-scheduled ?∞ MIMO vehicle dynamic stability controller (VDSC) involving both steering and rear braking actuators. This VDSC aims at improving automotive vehicle yaw stability and lateral performances. The aim of this work is to provide a methodology to synthesise such a controller while taking into account the braking actuator limitations and use the steering actuator only if it is necessary. These objectives are treated in an original way by the synthesis of a parameter-dependent controller built in the LPV framework and by the solution of an LMI problem. The proposed solution is coupled with a local ABS strategy to guarantee slip stability and make the solution complete. Nonlinear time and frequency domain simulations on a complex full vehicle model (which has been validated on a real car), subject to critical driving situations, show the efficiency and robustness of the proposed solution. 相似文献

For the control of anti-lock brake system (ABS), a longitudinal four-wheel vehicle model with brake actuator is described and a sliding mode controller with pulse width modulation (PWM) method has been developed for passenger vehicles. In our research, we introduce actuator dynamics of solenoid-solenoid valve type in system equation and derive the sliding mode control input theoretically. We propose using PWM method to compensate for the discrete nature of actuator dynamics by duty control. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithms was confirmed by vehicle test on an in-door test bench that was specially constructed for the purpose concerned. 相似文献

A sliding-mode observer is designed to estimate the vehicle velocity with the measured vehicle acceleration, the wheel speeds and the braking torques. Based on the Burckhardt tyre model, the extended Kalman filter is designed to estimate the parameters of the Burckhardt model with the estimated vehicle velocity, the measured wheel speeds and the vehicle acceleration. According to the estimated parameters of the Burckhardt tyre model, the tyre/road friction coefficients and the optimal slip ratios are calculated. A vehicle adaptive sliding-mode control (SMC) algorithm is presented with the estimated vehicle velocity, the tyre/road friction coefficients and the optimal slip ratios. And the adjustment method of the sliding-mode gain factors is discussed. Based on the adaptive SMC algorithm, a vehicle's antilock braking system (ABS) control system model is built with the Simulink Toolbox. Under the single-road condition as well as the different road conditions, the performance of the vehicle ABS system is simulated with the vehicle velocity observer, the tyre/road friction coefficient estimator and the adaptive SMC algorithm. The results indicate that the estimated errors of the vehicle velocity and the tyre/road friction coefficients are acceptable and the vehicle ABS adaptive SMC algorithm is effective. So the proposed adaptive SMC algorithm can be used to control the vehicle ABS without the information of the vehicle velocity and the road conditions. 相似文献
