About the Workshop...
The International Workshop on Water Waves and Floating Bodies is an annual meeting of mathematicians and engineers with a particular interest in water waves and their effects on floating and submerged marine structures. The IWWWFB was initiated by Professor D.V. Evans (University of Bristol) and Professor J.N. Newman (MIT) following informal meetings between their research groups in 1984. First intended to promote communications between workers in the UK and the USA, the interest and participation quickly spread to include researchers from many other countries around the world. The workshop places particular emphasis on the participation of younger researchers, on the stimulation of discussions between engineers and scientists, and to the presentation of preliminary basic scientific work before its publication elsewhere. The workshop is an important reference point for organizing and spreading knowledge in this area. In particular, the workshop proceedings are freely accessible through the dedicated internet address www.iwwwfb.org where all contributions from 1986 on can be found.  相似文献

The U.S M/V "Sikuliaq"The Alaska Fairbanks University of U.S has ordered a scientific exploration vessel that operates in Alaskan region from Marinette Marine company. This vessel is designed by Glosten Associates Marine Construction Engineering Company and its launch is planned in June, 2012 and full operation in 2014. The whole project is predicted to cost $123 million. After completion, this ship will become one of the most advanced research vessels in the world. The M/V"Sikuliaq" has a length of 79.5 meters, a width of 15.84 meters, a depth of 8.53 meters, a draught of 7.77 meters and a discharge of 3724 tons. Maritime regulators from the United States, the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the European Commission met and conferred in Washington, D.C. on December 17, 2013 to consider the evolving international maritime landscape. The officials had open and candid discussions on their differing regulatory frameworks and the potential effects of carrier cooperation on international trade. The thermodynamic(energy and exergy) analysis of a condensate heating system, its segments, and components from a marine steam propulsion plant with steam reheating is performed in this paper. It is found that energy analysis of any condensate heating system should be avoided because it is highly influenced by the measuring equipment accuracy and precision. All the components from the observed marine condensate heating system have energy destructions lower than 3 kW, while the energy efficiencies of this system are higher than 99%. The exergy efficiency of closed condensate heaters continuously increases from the lowest to the highest steam pressures(from 70.10% to 92.29%). The ambient temperature variation between 5 °C and 45 °C notably influences the exergy efficiency change of both low pressure heaters and the low pressure segment equal to 31.61%,12.37%, and 18.35%, respectively.  相似文献
