In the last two decades, the growing need for short‐term prediction of traffic parameters embedded in a real‐time intelligent transportation systems environment has led to the development of a vast number of forecasting algorithms. Despite this, there is still not a clear view about the various requirements involved in modelling. This field of research was examined by disaggregating the process of developing short‐term traffic forecasting algorithms into three essential clusters: the determination of the scope, the conceptual process of specifying the output and the process of modelling, which includes several decisions concerning the selection of the proper methodological approach, the type of input and output data used, and the quality of the data. A critical discussion clarifies several interactions between the above and results in a logical flow that can be used as a framework for developing short‐term traffic forecasting models. 相似文献

Using the nationally representative dataset of the 2007 Pakistan Time-Use Survey, this paper examines gender differences in daily trip rate, mode choice, travel duration, and purpose of travel, which are previously unreported because of limited data availability. Wide gender mobility gaps are observed in the country, where women are less likely to travel, are half as mobile as men and may rely heavily on walking. The particular social and cultural context of the country, that renders women as private, secluded and family honor, seems influential in shaping their mobility and choice of activities. Demographic factors such as age, household income, and marital status significantly decrease female mobility levels. Hence, these findings call for a gender-based culturally responsive transportation policy in the country. 相似文献

This paper models traffic congestion formation on highways and roads by recognizing the centrality of dynamical systems and using concepts from complexity theory as imbedded in the spin glasses analogue. Further, it explores the concept of how an increase in air pollution caused by vehicle exhaust emission can be traced to traffic congestion, specifically to the acceleration/deceleration of vehicles on the roads. First, spin glass is introduced and then by applying the two-dimensional x − y Ising model and defining a Hamiltonian (based on Edwards-Anderson and Mattis models of spin glass systems) for a system of vehicles on the road, derivations are made of the specific friction of congestion and the bulk modulus of congestion using the Gibbs-Boltzmann statistic. Similarly using the interactions of vehicles with each other and the resulting accelerations and decelerations of vehicles as the basis for exhaust emissions, derivations are made of a specificity of exhaust emissions. These are analogues to the entropy models of thermodynamics. This series of derivations serves as an analytical model for detecting incidents of congestion and increase in air pollution due to exhaust emissions in transportation systems. 相似文献

The concept of Low Temperature Combustion (LTC) has been advancing rapidly because it may reduce emissions of NOx and soot
simultaneously. Various LTC regimes that yield specific emissions have been investigated by a great number of experiments.
To accelerate the evaluation of the spray combustion characteristics of LTC, to identify the soot formation threshold in LTC,
and to implement the LTC concept in real diesel engines, LTC is modeled and simulated. However, since the physics of LTC is
rather complex, it has been a challenge to precisely compute LTC regimes by applying the available diesel combustion models
and considering all spatial and temporal characteristics as well as local properties of LTC. In this paper, LTC regimes in
a constant-volume chamber with n-Heptane fuel were simulated using the ECFM3Z model implemented in a commercial STAR-CD code.
The simulations were performed for different ambient gas O2 concentrations, ambient gas temperatures and injection pressures. The simulation results showed very good agreement with
available experimental data, including similar trends in autoignition and flame evolution. In the selected range of ambient

An active suspension with preview is developed for the rear axle of a commercial vehicle. The obtained improvements are promising and justify further investigation of the more feasible semi-active suspensions with preview. The inherent non-linearity of semi-active suspensions with switching shock absorbers and the need for controllers that can handle a broad class of control objectives has led to the development of several numerical control methods for both multi-level and continuously variable shock absorbers. The objective of this study is optimizing the components design of a vehicle suspension system under excitation due to road roughness. The vehicle is modelled as a dynamic system made of masses interconnected by, linear, springs and dampers. The optimizing code provides values corresponding to the caracteristics of masses, dampers and springs which, within a range, minimize the objective function for a defined excitation. This objective function auantifies the vehicle comfort level.
The optimization method used is the sequential linear programming by iteratively applying the Simplex algorithm. The model response is obtained in frequency domain and the vehicle excitation can be either random or deterministic.
The exact nature of the optimization problem, objective function and restrictions, depend on the type of excitation considered.

Active control of non-stationary response of a single degree of freedom vehicle model with nonlinear passive suspension elements is considered in this paper. The method of equivalent linearization is used to derive the equivalent linear model and the optimal control laws are obtained by using stochastic optimal control theory based on full state information. Velocity squared quadratic damping and hysteresis type of stiffness nonlinearities are considered. The effect of the nonlinearities on the active system performance is studied.
