This paper introduces the taxi route network design problem (TXRNDP) for a fixed‐route taxi service operating in Iran and, in similar form, in various other developing countries. The service operates fairly similar to regular transit services in that vehicles are only permitted to follow a certain predetermined route on the network. The service is provided with small size vehicles and main features are that vehicles only depart if full and that there are no intermediate boarding stops. In Iran the service attracts a high modal share but requires better coordination which is the main motivation for the present study. We develop a mathematical programming model to minimize the total travel time experienced by passengers while constraining the number of taxi lines, the trip transfer ratio and the length of taxi lines. A number of assumptions are introduced in order to allow finding an exact rather than heuristic solution. We further develop a linear programming solution to minimize the number of taxis required to serve the previously found fixed‐route taxi network. Results of a case study with the city of Zanjan, Iran, illustrate the resulting taxi flows and suggest the capability of the proposed model to reduce the total travel time, the total waiting time and the number of taxi lines compared to the current taxi operation. In this paper, a vehicle sharing system with multi-transportation modes and allowable shortage is presented. This model aims to minimize the system's total cost by using optimum locations and number of stations, routes, transportation modes, station capacities for different modes and time between stations balancing. Because of the model's complexity, currently available proprietary software is not able to solve the model in a reasonable computational time, so a hybrid algorithm based on a genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization is presented. The results confirm its efficiency compared with the classic GA and exact solution methods. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis shows the applicability of the proposed algorithm. 相似文献

In thispaper, the effects of a rigid baffle on the seismic response of liquid in a rigid cylindrical tank are evaluated. A baffle is an annular plate which supplies a kind of passive control on the effects of ground excitation. The contained liquid is assumed incompressible, inviscid and has irrotational motion. To estimate the seismic response, the method of superposition of modes has been applied. To analyze the rigid tank response, Laplace's equation is considered as the governing equation of the fluid domain, in both time and frequency domains. The boundary element method (BEM) is employed to evaluate the natural modes of liquid in a cylindrical tank. To gain this goal, the fluid domain is divided into two upper and lower parts partitioned by the baffle. Linearized kinematic and dynamic boundary conditions of the free surface of the contained liquid have been considered. 相似文献

This paper proposes an approach for the estimation of the road angles independent from the road friction conditions. The method employs unknown input observers on the roll and pitch dynamics of the vehicle. The correlation between the road angle rates and the pitch/roll rates of the vehicle is also investigated to increase the accuracy. Dynamic fault thresholds are implemented in the algorithm to ensure reliable estimation of the vehicle body and road angles. Performance of the proposed approach in reliable estimation of the road angles is experimentally demonstrated through vehicle road tests. Road test experiments include various driving scenarios on different road conditions to thoroughly validate the proposed approach. 相似文献

Racing catamarans use aerodynamic alleviation concept which in existing extreme ground effect significantly enhances the performance. Beside design measures, controlling strategies may be employed as convenient solutions to improve the performance and address concerns regarding poor stability in these crafts. Being of substantial importance for a racing catamaran to reach the final speed as soon as possible, this study attempts to find the optimal form of changing the drive angle (as control variable) to minimize its acceleration time. In this regard, a mathematical model is developed for forward acceleration phase of these catamarans based on empirical and theoretical methods. Then the formulation and solution algorithm for the time-optimal problem are described according to an indirect method. Results for a representative racing craft have been presented in uncontrolled and controlled conditions. Problem in controlled condition has been solved without and with a predefined constraint regarding stability margin. Optimal controlling of the drive angle without stability constraint during the acceleration results in 40 % reduction in time required to reach the speed of 110 kn and 14 % reduction in resistance at this speed in comparison to the uncontrolled case. Addition of the stability constraint changes optimal solution for drive angle and causes craft trim angle follow a decreasing trend at higher speeds. 相似文献

The main challenge for container ports is the planning required for berthing container ships while docked in port.Growth of containerization is creating problems for ports and container terminals as they reach their capacity limits of various resources which increasingly leads to traffic and port congestion.Good planning and management of container terminal operations reduces waiting time for liner ships.Reducing the waiting time improves the terminal’s productivity and decreases the port difficulties. Two important keys to reducing waiting time with berth allocation are determining suitable access channel depths and increasing the number of berths which in this paper are studied and analyzed as practical solutions.Simulation based analysis is the only way to understand how various resources interact with each other and how they are affected in the berthing time of ships. We used the Enterprise Dynamics software to produce simulation models due to the complexity and nature of the problems. We further present case study for berth allocation simulation of the biggest container terminal in Iran and the optimum access channel depth and the number of berths are obtained from simulation results. The results show a significant reduction in the waiting time for container ships and can be useful for major functions in operations and development of container ship terminals. 相似文献

Ship motions in a high sea state can have adverse effects on controllability, cause loss of stability, and ultimately compromise
the survivability of the ship. In a broaching event, the ship losses control, naturally turning broadside to the waves, causing
a dangerous situation and possibly capsizing. Classical approaches to study broaching rely on costly experimental programs
and/or time-domain potential or system-based simulation codes. In this paper the ability of Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes
(RANS) to simulate a broaching event in irregular waves is demonstrated, and the extensive information available is used to
analyze the broaching process. The demonstration nature of this paper is stressed, as opposed to a validated study. Unsteady
RANS (URANS) provides a model based on first principles to capture phenomena such as coupling between sway, yaw, and roll,
roll damping, effects of complex waves on righting arm, rudders partially out of the water, etc. The computational fluid dynamics
(CFD) method uses a single-phase level-set approach to model the free surface, and dynamic overset grids to resolve large-amplitude
motions. Before evaluating irregular seas two regular wave cases are demonstrated, one causing broaching and one causing stable
surf riding. A sea state 8 is imposed following an irregular Bretschneider spectrum, and an autopilot was implemented to control
heading and speed with two different gains for the heading controller. It is concluded that the autopilot causes the ship
to be in an adverse dynamic condition at the beginning of the broaching process, and thus is partially responsible for the
occurrence of the broaching event. 相似文献

It needs some seconds for a signal, which is created from brake application, to travel from the first part of the train system (locomotive) to the end part of it (last wagon). Delay in time of all parts of the system (train) brake is seen which might deteriorate the longitudinal dynamic interaction of the long trains. For instance, this results in running of the rear cars to the front ones and hence producing large in-train forces at the buffers and couplers. Major parts of the rolling stock in railway system repair are known for relative compression and tension forces, which are applied to the whole train system and cause huge expenses for the industry. For trains with long lengths, operating in safe area is another important relation with train forces along the system. By using MATLAB simulation in this study, we investigated the length's effect on train dynamic along the system mainly for freight trains. We did our research on the trains which are currently used in Railways of Islamic Republic of Iran, RIRI. Four diverse cases were under our simulation, in each of which, trains consist of 52, 32, 20 and 12 cars, respectively. Two different forces (tension and compression) are displayed here as of the outcome of the research. Simulations show different forms of interplays in dynamics along the system. Then we compared the graphs to each other to find out detailed influences of length of the whole system (train including different number of wagons and locomotive) on dynamics of system along it while braking is applied. 相似文献

The performance of the control systems of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in the presence of parameter variations was
studied. With an AUV working at different operating speeds and in different ocean environments, the physical parameters such
as speed, hydrodynamic coefficients, or inertias may be perturbed from their nominal values. The vehicle control systems can
be modeled as systems with parameter uncertainty. An existing robust control method, which uses the robustness properties
of polynomials, was used for this system to calculate the permissible ranges of variation in the parameters. The method was
applied to the Naval Postgraduate School AUV II and the results were verified by simulating the motion control of the vehicle
under the influence of parameter perturbations. 相似文献

The high frequency of maritime accidents and incidents occurring at sea has been a major challenge for the maritime industry in the last decades. The majority of these accidents are attributed to seafarers’ poor performance. This, despite the fact that the international maritime domain continues to adopt and update conventions regulating maritime safety to mitigate these accidents from occurring. In this paper, utilising a qualitative research approach, we show through a socio-cultural contextual perspective that time constraints as a major influencing factor in causing task deviations at sea which leads to dangerous situations. We analyse how some of the present barriers in place to prevent accidents at sea are in effect prompt seafarers who are working under time pressure to deviate from their task. Moreover, the paper discusses the social constituents such as job insecurity and the seafarers’ viewpoint towards the ship operators’ commitment to safe ship operations are crucial in motivating seafarers’ deviating from the task at hand when faced with time pressure. 相似文献
