The characteristics of auto-ignition and micro-explosion behaviors of one-dimensional arrays of fuel droplets suspended in
a chamber with high surrounding temperature were investigated experimentally with various droplet spacings, numbers of droplet
and surrounding temperatures. The fuels used were pure n-decane and emulsified n-decane with varied water contents ranging
from 10 to 30%. All experiments were performed under atmospheric conditions with high surrounding temperatures. An imaging
technique using a high-speed camera was adopted to measure ignition delay, flame lifetime, and flame spread speed. The camera
was also used to observe micro-explosion behaviors. As the droplet array spacing increased, the ignition delay also increased,
regardless of water content. However, the lifetime of the droplet array decreased as the droplet spacing increased. The micro-explosion
starting time remained unchanged regardless of the number of the droplets or the droplet spacing; however, it tended to be
delayed slightly as the water percentage and droplet spacing increased. 相似文献

This paper proposes a steering control method based on optimal control theory to improve the maneuverability of a six-wheeled
vehicle during cornering. The six-wheeled vehicle is believed to have better performance than a four-wheeled vehicle in terms
of its capability for crossing obstacles, off-road maneuvering and fail-safe handling when one or two of the tires are punctured.
Although many methods to improve the four-wheeled vehicle’s lateral stability have been studied and developed, there have
only been a few studies on the six-wheeled vehicle’s lateral stability. Some studies of the six-wheeled vehicle have been
reported recently, but they are related to the desired yaw rate of a four-wheeled vehicle to control the six-wheeled vehicle’s
maneuvering during corning. In this paper, the sideslip angle and yaw rate are controlled to improve the maneuverability during
cornering by independent control of the steering angles of the six wheels. The desired yaw rate that is suitable for a six-wheeled
vehicle is proposed as a control target. In addition, a scaled-down vehicle with six drive motors and six steering motors
that can be controlled independently is designed. The performance of the proposed control methods is verified using a full

This paper is the second invstigation on the effect of fuel stratification on flame propagation. In the previous work, the
characteristics under the no port-generated swirl condition, i.e., the conventional case was studied. In this work, the flame
development under the low swirl condition was considered. For this purpose, the initial flame development and propagation
were visualized under different axially stratified states in a modified optical single cylinder SI engine. The images were
captured by an intensified CCD camera through the quartz window mounted in the piston. Stratification was controlled by the
combination of the port swirl ratio and injection timing. These were averaged and processed to characterize the flame propagation.
The flame stability was estimated by the weighted average of flame area and luminosity. The stability was also evaluated through
the standard deviation of flame area and propagation distance and through the mean absolute deviation of the propagating direction.
The results show that the flame-flow interaction determines the direction of flame propagation and that the governing roles
of the two factors vary according to the stratified state and the location in the cylinder. In addition, the flame development
and the initial flame stability are strongly dependent on the stratified conditions, and the initial flame stability is closely
related to the engine stability and lean misfire limit. Lastly, there is no essential difference in gasoline and CNG flame

This paper starts by reviewing the main components of social marginal costs and environmental costs in the context of transport, and it draws on the experience in Europe concerning the means by which these costs can be valued. That experience is then translated to the situation in Lithuania, where many of the same issues are now being debated. A multicriteria method is proposed to internalize these costs, both from the perspective of the state and of the carriers. Costs need to be raised substantially if the social and environmental factors are to be paid for by the transport users, and such action would bring Lithuania closer to the best practice currently in operation in the European Union. 相似文献

The European Union (EU) has proposed renewing the target for halving the number of road fatalities in the period 2011–2020. In this paper, a nonlinear distribution method for dynamic fatality reduction targets is applied for the purpose of finding individual national mortality reduction targets for each of the 27 member countries in the EU. Weighting is undertaken for four scenarios based on the following indicators: road mortality rates, fatality rates, fatality risks, and fatality density. Results are presented for four proposals to reduce the number of fatalities in each Member State, based on the original situation of the indicators considered in the study. This paper presents an attempt made to facilitate re‐scheduling of trains to minimize operational delays and accommodate uniform headways for off peak sub urban services subject to resource constraints such as locomotive availability, poor track conditions and stations without siding facilities. The paper describes the computer simulation model designed to optimize train schedules on single‐track rail lines. Using this simulation program it is possible to plan and optimize timetables for railway networks with train runs within short time periods for both single track and double track conditions. The paper describes the capabilities of presenting the results of the simulation runs. These include the time‐distance graph, the network with train movements, dialog boxes with information about selected trains. The programme is capable of changing the starting point, departure time, train destinations and adding or deleting a stop etc. from the user interface. Four objects of array variables are used in the simulation process to keep train and station data. Two object arrays are used for the train movements in up and down directions. The stations' data are stored in the other two object arrays. One of these arrays of stations contains all the stations of the line while the other one contains only the stations with siding facilities. A case study that covers a 61 km long single‐track line with 14 stations is presented to highlight the model capabilities. 相似文献

Transit agencies implement many strategies in order to provide an attractive transportation service. This article aims to evaluate the impacts of implementing a combination of strategies, designed to improve the bus transit service, on running time and passenger satisfaction. These strategies include using smart card fare collection, introducing limited-stop bus service, implementing reserved bus lanes, using articulated buses, and implementing transit signal priority (TSP). This study uses stop-level data collected from the Société de transport de Montréal (STM)’s automatic vehicle location (AVL) and automatic passenger count (APC) systems, in Montréal, Canada. The combination of these strategies has lead to a 10.5% decline in running time along the limited stop service compared to the regular service. The regular route running time has increased by 1% on average compared to the initial time period. The study also shows that riders are generally satisfied with the service improvements. They tend to overestimate the savings associated with the implementation of this combination of strategies by 3.5-6.0 min and by 2.5-4.1 min for both the regular route and the limited stop service, respectively. This study helps transit planners and policy makers to better understand the effects of implementing a combination of strategies to improve running time and passenger’s perception of these changes in service. 相似文献

This paper presents a procedure for the estimation of origin‐destination (O‐D) matrices for a multimodal public transit network. The system consists of a number of favored public transit modes that are obtained from a modal split process in a traditional four‐step transportation model. The demand of each favored mode is assigned to the multimodal network, which is comprised of a set of connected links of different public transit modes. An entropy maximization procedure is proposed to simultaneously estimate the O‐D demand matrices of all favored modes, which are consistent with target data sets such as the boarding counts and line segment flows that are observed directly in the network. A case study of the Hong Kong multimodal transit network is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology. 相似文献

This paper is concerned with the braking performance and the handling behavior of the tractor-semitrailer truck under optimal braking. Optimal control theory is used in order to deal with the problem and a combination of the steepest descent method and the Davidon Fletcher Powell method is used to solve it numerically. Results for some chosen braking maneuvers are obtained for a nonlinear truck model which has 14 degrees of freedom. These results show that, for the chosen maneuvers an idealized anti-skid braking is close to being optimal in the sense defined in this paper. Implementation of an idealized anti-skid braking on the tractor-semitrailer truck, however, may be not desirable. 相似文献
