CDAM is a new computer program for solving the combined trip distribution and assignment model for multiple user classes, which enables transport planners to estimate consistent Origin-Destination (O-D) matrices and equilibrium traffic flows simultaneously if the trip production and attraction of each user class at zone centroids are available. This paper reports an application of CDAM to the central Kowloon study area in Hong Kong. The coefficients of the model related to the components of generalized costs are calibrated on 1986 travel data. A comparison of results of CDAM and a version of MicroTRIPS models of transportation demand in Hong Kong are presented. Finally, some conclusions are drawn and the advantage of the CDAM are discussed.  相似文献

The dynamic performance of a flat car is studied herein. The performance indices include roll angles, lateral accelerations, center plate loads, side bearing loads, wheel loads and spring deflections. These variables are maximum when the car is running at its critical speed, corresponding to either the rock and roll, or the bounce mode. The Association of American Railroads' (AAR) Flexible Carbody Model was used. The input for vertical track irregularities used in the simulation was generated from published spectra for U.S. Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Class 4 track. After studying the car's performance with various column loads and spring suspensions, it was found that the most commonly used column load of 4,000 lbs. (17.8 kN) should be used. The spring suspension used in the original car design should also be adopted, in order to avoid spring. bottoming.  相似文献

Increasing attention has been focussed in the North Sea and elsewhere on the quantification of the risks of working in a hazardous enviroment: the offshore world. The perception of risk with respect to mobile rigs has often been vague and uninformed. This paper attempts to put the risks with respect to jackup rigs into perspective by quantifying them and comparing them to other risks.

This paper contains a few risk comparisons with fixed platforms, semi-submersibles, and drillships. Historical casualties are used in an example to show how a change intended to make an operation safer, may result in the opposite effect.

Examining risks from losses due to environmental overload, the conclusion is reached that jackups are very safe structures: there appears to be no jackup, in the timeframe examined, that has been lost because of a deficiency in the calculation methods currently in use by knowledgeable experts.  相似文献

Strategies to predict, and thus limit, potentially detrimental environmental impacts of abyssal disposal of wastes are severely limited by our lack of knowledge of deep-sea processes and lack of opportunity to directly study waste disposal in abyssal environments. Probable successional sequences following burial of benthic faunas by sewage sludge and dredged material on the abyssal seafloor are drawn by analogy with well-known processes in shallow-marine water. Scales of change and recovery of abyssal benthic faunas from episodic deposition of waste material are examined by extrapolation from what is currently known about turbidite sedimentary provinces, in particular, the Venezuela Abyssal Plain and the Great Meteor East area of the Madeira Abyssal Plain. Results suggest that initial benthic faunal recolonization would take place within years following episodic depositions of waste on the abyssal seafloor. Anoxic conditions or chemical inhibitory effects may delay initial benthic recolonization for hundreds of years. Establishment of equilibrium benthic faunal assemblages probably takes hundreds to potentially thousands of years. Potentially detrimental effects dictate that the surface areas of individual waste deposits should be minimized and the deposits should be isolated by capping with nontoxic materials or chemical barriers.  相似文献

Continuously updated knowledge of the friction potential and the friction demand can help to improve manoeuvrability and thereby safety of vehicles under slippery road conditions. An on line friction estimation method is presented using a simple brush type tyre model. First the method is verified by outdoor experiments using a tyre test trailer. Then the setup of a low-cost measurement system in a vehicle is discussed and results from both simulations and outdoor experiments are presented. Neural networks have been used both for modelling and identification of friction potential and friction demand.  相似文献

Area traffic control is an important element in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). This paper extends the lane‐based optimization method to a traffic equilibrium network, which improves the operational performance of signal‐controlled network. We formulate a decomposition approach to simultaneously optimize the lane markings and signal settings for a signal‐controlled network that comprises two levels of optimization. At the junction level, the lane markings, control sequence, and other aspects of the signal settings are optimized for individual junctions, whereas at the network level, the group‐based signal settings are optimized to take into account the re‐routing characteristics of travelers and signal coordination effects that are based on a TRANSYT traffic model, which is a well‐known procedure for evaluating the performance of signal‐controlled networks. We use a numerical example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.  相似文献

This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of active suspensions for use on railway vehicles. The primary focus of the paper is on ride quality control, both vertical and lateral, and on lateral stability control.

The section on theoretical considerations summarizes the results of a one-degree of freedom optimization and then investigates analytically the use of active suspensions for lateral ride and stability augmentation. It is shown that separate control structures using different measurements and actuator actions are very effective in controlling both ride quality and stability.

A section on a survey ofcurrent activities reviews published research on active railway suspension work around the world.
