The transport demand in most major cities around the world can only be met with a high‐quality public transport system. The requirements on bus, rail, underground and tram systems are manifold with reliability and efficiency as the key factors. The service operating hours and the size of the network are often extended in order to serve the needs better. Further, most metropolitan areas are trying to provide more incentives for citizens to leave the car at home and use the local transit systems instead. The reasons are well known. Not only does a public transport system only make economical sense if it is well used, but most urban areas with a high car‐dependency face at least three major problems; safety, congestion, and pollution (noise and air pollution, land separation, etc.). It is generally recognised that to decrease car usage and to increase public transport usage a stick & carrot approach is needed. The adoption of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) is the latest response of the international
shipping community to the increasing threat posed by acts of terrorism at sea. The ACHILLE LAURO incident of 1985 showed that
the traditional law against piracy was not adequate to deal with new types of unlawful acts against international shipping,
especially those involving acts of terrorism. The 1988 Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety
of Maritime Navigation (SUA Convention) and the technical and administrative measures adopted by the Maritime Safety Committee
of IMO in 1986 and 1996 attempted to develop a broader regime to deal with unlawful acts against international shipping.However,

In this study, a driver model with the multiple regression and the neural network is constructed to analyze the relationship between the driver's control action and the information that includes data of vehicle behavior and environment. Using these models, effectiveness of the information to control the action of a driver is examined. To evaluate the intelligent driver support systems, Mental Work Load (MWL) model is constructed with the multiple regression and the neural network. MWL is expressed as Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Measured HRV data and calculated HRV data with MWL model show good agreement. Effectiveness of information is examined using the MWL model. From these results, it is shown that the analytical method with the driver's MWL can be used to assess and improve the intelligent driver support systems as the next stage of this research. 相似文献

This paper proposes a new formulation for the capacity restraint transit assignment problem with elastic line frequency, in which the line frequency is related to the passenger flows on transit lines. A stochastic user equilibrium transit assignment model with congestion and elastic line frequency is proposed and the equivalent mathematical programming problem is also formulated. Since the passenger waiting time and the line capacity are dependent on the line frequency, a fixed point problem with respect to the line frequency is devised accordingly. The existence of the fixed point problem has been proved. A solution algorithm for the proposed model is presented. Few marine phytoplankton have heteromorphic life cycles and also often dominate the ecosystems in which they occur. The class Prymnesiophyceae contains a notable exception: the genus Phaeocystis includes three species that form gelatinous colonies but also occur within their ranges as solitary cells. Phaeocystis antarctica and P. pouchetii are exclusively high latitude taxa, and are notable for regionally tremendous blooms of the colony stage. P. globosa occurs circumglobally, yet its colony blooms primarily are confined to colder waters within its range. Three additional species are warm water forms that have been reported only as solitary cells or loose aggregations that bear little resemblance to the organized colonies of the other taxa. Interpretation of existing data indicates that resource availability (light, temperature and nutrients) by itself is not sufficient to explain this distinction between cold-water colony-forming taxa and warm water solitary cell taxa, nor why colony development in P. globosa is essentially a spatially restricted phenomenon within a much broader geographic range. Colony development by P. globosa in situ has been observed at temperatures ≥20 °C, but only rarely and generally under conditions of seasonally or anthropogenically elevated nutrient supply. Data presented here demonstrate colony development at 20–22 °C in natural plankton communities from oligotrophic waters that were pre-screened through 63 μm mesh (i.e. lacking mesozooplankton and large microzooplankton), but not in unscreened communities containing microzooplankton and >63 μm zooplankton. Reduction of colony proliferation at higher temperatures by mesozooplankton grazing remains as an intriguing possibility that is consistent with available evidence to help explain differences in latitudinal extent of in situ colony development. These data are interpreted within a theoretical framework regarding the potential advantages and disadvantages of the two life cycle stages. 相似文献

The primary purpose of this study was to investigate how relative associations between travel time, costs, and land use patterns
where people live and work impact modal choice and trip chaining patterns in the Central Puget Sound (Seattle) region. By
using a tour-based modeling framework and highly detailed land use and travel data, this study attempts to add detail on the
specific land use changes necessary to address different types of travel, and to develop a comparative framework by which
the relative impact of travel time and urban form changes can be assessed. A discrete choice modeling framework adjusted for
demographic factors and assessed the relative effect of travel time, costs, and urban form on mode choice and trip chaining
characteristics for the three tour types. The tour based modeling approach increased the ability to understand the relative
contribution of urban form, time, and costs in explaining mode choice and tour complexity for home and work related travel.
Urban form at residential and employment locations, and travel time and cost were significant predictors of travel choice.
Travel time was the strongest predictor of mode choice while urban form the strongest predictor of the number of stops within
a tour. Results show that reductions in highway travel time are associated with less transit use and walking. Land use patterns
where respondents work predicted mode choice for mid day and journey to work travel.

Automotive general assembly requires many manual assembly operations to be carried out by human workers. Ergonomic analysis
is an important part of the design and evaluation of products, jobs, tools, machines and environments for safe, comfortable
and effective human functioning. Most recent researches have involved the evaluation of working conditions to prevent work-related
musculoskeletal disorders. The majority of previous research on automotive companies has mainly considered the results of
ergonomic analyses such as RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment), REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) and OWAS (Ovako Working
Posture Analysis System). Analysis of static posture including reachability, clearances for arm, hand and tool has also been
used to evaluate working conditions. However, in addition to static posture analysis, a biomechanical analysis in dynamic
conditions should also be conducted. There are no integrated frameworks or standard schema for ergonomic analysis using digital
human models in digital environments. The purpose of this paper is to propose a new framework for the evaluation of working
conditions by ergonomic and biomechanical analysis using digital models based on XML standard schema, including: products,
processes, manufacturing resources and human workers. This paper presents the analysis results using the proposed framework
for automotive general assembly operations. We propose a new framework for the evaluation of the assembly operations and their
environments. Then we apply a digital human model to the dynamic simulation of general automotive assembly operations based
on standard schemas in XML and PPRH (Product, Process, Resource and Human). Using PPRH information based on a standard XML
schema to analyze the ergonomic and biomechanical results, the engineer can visualize, analyze and improve assembly operations
