Slam events experienced by high-speed catamarans in irregular waves were characterised through experiments using a hydroelastic segmented model. The model was designed to represent the dynamic behaviour of the full-scale Incat 112 m vessel and to allow the measurement of the slam load on the centrebow and wet deck. It was tested in irregular head seas at two speeds relating to Froude numbers of 0.32 and 0.60. Nearly 300 slams were identified in the test data and analysed with respect to kinematic parameters. Slams were found to have a large range of magnitudes, with the largest equivalent to 1785 tonnes full scale (approximately 70% of vessel displacement); however, the majority of events were of relatively low severity. Differences in slam characteristics were found for the two model speeds tested; slams at the slower speed generally occurred further forward on the hull, prior to the wave crest and with a bow down pitch angle. Immersion of the centrebow to the two-dimensional filling height of the cross-section between the centrebow and demihulls is shown to be a better indicator of slam occurrence than immersion to the top of the archway.  相似文献

For the 64 most basic ways to construct a hash function H:{0,1} → {0,1}n from a block cipher E:{0,1}n × {0,1}n → {0,1}n, Black et al.provided a formal and quantitative treatment of the 64 constructions, and proved that 20 schemes are collision resistant.This paper improves the upper and lower bounds and make contrast with a hash constructed from a random oracle.These 20 schemes have only one kind of collision resistance upper and lower bounds.In addition, we present new advantages for finding second preimages.  相似文献

The slamming behaviour of a large high-speed catamaran has been investigated through the analysis of full-scale trials data. The US Navy conducted the trials in the North Sea and North Atlantic region on a 98 m wave piercer catamaran, HSV-2 Swift, designed by Revolution Design Pty Ltd and built by Incat Tasmania. For varying wave headings, vessel speeds and sea states the data records were interrogated to identify slam events. An automatic slam identification algorithm was developed, considering the measured rate of change of stress in the ship’s structure coupled with the vessel’s pitch motion. This has allowed the slam occurrence rates to be found for a range of conditions and the influence of vessel speed, wave environment and heading to be determined. The slam events have been further characterised by assessing the relative vertical velocity at impact between the vessel and the wave. Since the ship was equipped with a ride control system, its influence on the slam occurrence rates has also been assessed.  相似文献

The road profile is usually considered to be a random process x ( d ), where x is the road height and d is the distance along the road. As the vehicle travels along the road with velocity v , the random process x ( d ) is converted to a random process x ( t ) which is input to the vehicle suspension via the tyre. The random process x ( d ) is usually described in terms of its power spectral density as a function of frequency in either radians or cycles per unit distance. However, there are several different ways of defining power spectral density, and this makes it difficult to compare published data without knowing how the power spectral density has been defined. The employment and management policies of the shipping industry are in legal and administrative confusion. The shipping industry is struggling with an unworkable global governance based on flag state sovereignty and a sanctionless international regulatory regime. Seafarers suffer most from this state of affairs, but so do the shipping industry’s public image. Few co-operatives of maritime workers exist in national or international shipping. A new employment theory is long overdue. Human centred management policies can only attain their full potential through co-operative or mutual associations. This paper describes the application of enlightened and socially conscious management principles to the shipping industry. Seafarers’ co-operatives are the future organisational building blocks of the shipping industry. Co-operatives can rescue maritime workers from developing countries from exploitation and the debilitating effects of casual labour by providing “all in one” seagoing and shore based professional careers. Seafarers’ co-operatives can solve the shipping industry’s maritime training and education problems. The seven universal principles of co-operative management will guide shipping management in setting human centred objectives that command respect of those who come in contact with the shipping industry.  相似文献

Most EU member states and the European Commission regard the PPP as an important tool to attract additional financial resources for high priority investments such as transport. The objective of this paper is to delineate the EU panorama of PPP markets and investigate the impacts of EU institutions in the development and success of this type of financial arrangement for the transport sector in Europe. We examine how the scope of the PPP in Europe is based on the flexibility and adaptability of the contract to the features of the project and to the economic and institutional environment. These issues are illustrated through a number of examples in the transport sector. We conclude by observing that the market for PPPs, although still fragmented nationally, is developing a European dimension and attracting resources from a variety of players.  相似文献

In optimally controlled active suspensions with either full or incomplete state feedback there is tradeoff between system performance and overall stiffness. It is sought to remove this limitation by incorporating integral action which results in a system with infinite stiffness towards static loading, but which is soft with respect to road inputs. The system is also able to eliminate the steady state deflections due to step and (potentially) ramp type inputs at the wheel. Optimality is retained at the cost only of a derivative constraint and the system can be physically realised using output feedback control.  相似文献
