Turbulent overturning on scales greater than 10 m is observed near the bottom and in mid-depth layers within the Gaoping (formerly spelled Kaoping) Submarine Canyon (KPSC) in southern Taiwan. Bursts of strong turbulence coexist with bursts of strong sediment concentrations in mid-depth layers. The turbulence kinetic energy dissipation rate in some turbulence bursts exceeds 10− 4 W kg− 1, and the eddy diffusivity exceeds 10− 1 m2 s− 1. Within the canyon, the depth averaged turbulence kinetic energy dissipation rate is ~ 7 × 10− 6 W kg− 1, and the depth averaged eddy diffusivity is ~ 10− 2 m2 s− 1. These are more than two orders of magnitude greater than typical values in the open ocean, and are much larger than those found in the Monterey Canyon where the strong turbulent mixing has also been. The interaction of tidal currents with the complex topography in Gaoping Submarine Canyon is presumably responsible for the observed turbulent overturning via shear instability and the breaking of internal tides and internal waves at critical frequencies. Strong 1st-mode internal tides exist in KPSC. The depth averaged internal tidal energy near the canyon mouth is ~ 0.17 m2 s− 2. The depth integrated internal tidal energy flux at the mouth of the canyon is ~ 14 kW m− 1, propagating along the axis of the canyon toward the canyon head. The internal tidal energy flux in the canyon is 3–7 times greater than that found in Monterey Canyon, presumably due to the more than 10 times larger barotropic tide in the canyon. Simple energy budget calculations conclude that internal tides alone may provide energy sufficient to explain the turbulent mixing estimated within the canyon. Further experiments are needed in order to quantify the seasonal and geographical distributions of internal tides in Gaoping Submarine Canyon and their effects on the sediment flux in the canyon. 相似文献

Law and Characteristics Analysis of Domestic Tunnel Construction Accidents from 2006 to 2016北大核心CSCD
With the rapid development of tunnel construction in China, strengthening statistical studies of domestic tunnel construction accidents is of great significance in order to understand the safety status of tunnel construction and the development trends of tunnel construction accidents and for exploring the direction of future scientific re-search. There were 89 tunnel construction accidents in China (not including subway tunnels or municipal tunnels)from 2006 to 2016. The characteristics of these accidents are analyzed in terms of time distribution, spatial distribu-tion, grade and type of accident according to the statistics by means of line charts, bar charts and pie charts. Most major cities across the world today are facing an intractable challenge of financing public transport. In Kuala Lumpur
for example, public transport services are somewhat poor in part because of the failure of major operators to secure ample
funding. Previous funding programs implemented in the city have failed to produce a replicable model for financing public
transport. Due to numerous financial problems and the dismal performance of privately owned transport firms, the State has
in the recent past emerged as a key source of funding for the public transport sector in Kuala Lumpur. This article argues
that, despite the insuperable challenges, prospects for the future funding of public transport in Kuala Lumpur appears to
be good. The article also draws lessons from both Tokyo and Hong Kong. In order to address the funding deficit facing the
public transport industry in the city it is crucial that more viable strategies and policies such as value capture and public–private
sector partnerships are adopted by the urban authorities.

船体结构之最佳化设计是一个复杂非线性的混和离散问题,并且要搜寻到全域的最佳值并不容易。在复杂的设计环境下基因演算法(Genetic Algorithm;GA)却可以搜寻到近似的全域最佳值。本文主要是应用基因演算法对T加强板架(Tee stiffened panel)、平板加强板架(flat-bat stiffened Panel)等常用且最具代表性之船体结构件进行最佳化设计,使结构在满足终极破坡限制(ultimate failure constraints)与耐用破坏限制(serviceability failure constraints)等所有限制条件下,求得最佳目标函数值中各设计变之最佳组合。在过程中并考量不同族群大小、变换机率、突变机率因素对最佳化结果的影响。文中是以制造成本为目标函数,其中同时考量材料成本及劳工成本,且所得之结果与连续性线性规则(Sequential Linear Programming;SLP)最佳化结果作了比较。计算的结果显示基因演算法可以有效地与快速地获得最小重量和最低成本的目标。 相似文献

Hydroplaning tires have been frequently simulated using commercial explicit FEM (Finite Element Method) codes. However, these
simulations are slow, and the result of the lift force is so oscillatory that the hydroplaning speed cannot be accurately
determined. Thus, in the author’s previous study, a new methodology using FDM (Finite Difference Method) code and an FE tire
model iteratively was proposed. However, this full iteration method still required a long computation time, especially for
patterned tires. Thus, in this study, the full iteration methodology was modified such that no iteration or only one additional
iteration was needed at each speed. Then, by applying the full iteration method, no iteration method and one iteration method,
the hydroplaning speeds of a straight-grooved tire were determined, and it was noted that the hydroplaning speed obtained
from the one iteration method was almost the same as that obtained from the full iteration method. Moreover, the hydroplaning
speeds of two patterned tires were determined using the one iteration method, and they were compared with the hydroplaning

The performance of brakes has become important due to increased train speeds. The brake system of a train must possess a large

This study proposes an efficient secure routing protocol which considers symmetric and asymmetric links for wireless mesh networks (WMNs). A wireless mesh network is a group of wireless mesh routers and several kinds of wireless devices (or nodes). Individual node cooperates by forwarding packets to each other, allowing nodes to communicate beyond the symmetric or asymmetric links. Asymmetric link is a special feature of WMNs because the wireless transmission ranges of different wireless devices may be different. The asymmetric link enhances WMN coverage. Providing security in WMNs has become an important issue over the last few years. Existing research on this topic tends to focus on providing security for routing and data content in the symmetric link. However, most studies overlook the asymmetric link in these networks. This study proposes a novel distributed routing protocol beyond symmetric and asymmetric links, to guarantee the security and high reliability of the established route in a hostile environment, such as WMNs, by avoiding the use of unreliable intermediate nodes. The routes generated by the proposed protocol are shorter than those in prior works. The major objective of the proposed protocol is to allow trustworthy intermediate nodes to participate in the path construction protocol. The mesh clients out of mesh router wireless transmission range may discover a secure route to securely connect to the mesh router for Internet access via the proposed protocol. A motor control strategy for an input-split hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is proposed. From a power characteristic analysis,
it is found that the powertrain efficiency decreases for speed ratios at which power circulation occurs. Using dynamic models
of an input-split HEV powertrain, a motor-generator control algorithm for obtaining high system efficiency is designed by
inversion-based control. The performance of the control algorithm is evaluated by the simulator which is developed based on
PSAT, and simulation results are compared with the test results. It is found that, even if the engine thermal efficiency is
sacrificed by moving the engine operation point from the OOL for the control strategy, improved overall powertrain system
efficiency can be achieved by the engine operation that gives a relatively high efficiency from the viewpoint of the overall
powertrain efficiency. The control algorithm developed can be used in design of future electric vehicles. 相似文献
