As the number of disabled people grows, independence and mobility become a priority for those individuals. To achieve this
goal, a ‘Turny-type power seat’ was developed in this study to assist a disabled person rise from a vehicle without trouble.
The design and modeling of the power seat were performed using AutoCAD and CATIA software. The major motions of the power
seat system are swiveling, sliding, and extending, which are accomplished primarily by DC motors, chains, and gears. Most
of the power seat parts were made from mild steel. Welding technology was used throughout the frame fabrication. To ensure
the safety and stability of the power seat, various tests were performed, and the results analyzed. The static analysis of
the power seat was carried out by ANSYS 11.0. The results showed that the power seat conformed to the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) standards. The durability test was performed by repeatedly rotating and sliding the power seat under loading conditions.
Dynamic crash simulation was carried out using the LS-DYNA software. The durability test ensured a longer life of the power
seat, while the crash analysis showed a small rotational distortion that was not harmful to passengers. However, the front
seat had a slightly larger forward displacement, which was not comfortable for passengers. Therefore, further modifications
of the power seat should be done to improve the performance, with attention given to the reduction of the forward displacement

During accident, the interlayer of windshield plays an important role in the crash safety of automotive and protection of
pedestrian or passenger. The understanding of its energy absorption capability is of fundamental importance. Conventional
interlayer material of automotive windshield is made by Polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Recently, a new candidate of high-performance
nanoporous energy absorption system (NEAS) has been suggested as a candidate for crashworthiness. For the model problem of
pedestrian head impact with windshield, we compare the energy absorption capabilities of PVB and NEAS interlayers, in terms
of the contact force, acceleration, velocity, head injury criteria, and energy absorption ratio, among which results obtained
from PVB interlayers are validated by literature references. The impact speed is obtained from virtual test field in PC-CRASH,
and the impact simulations are carried out using explicit finite element simulations. Both the accident speed and interlayer
thickness are varied to explore their effects. The explicit relationships established among the energy absorption capabilities,
impact speed, and interlayer material/thickness, are useful for safety evaluation as well as automotive design. It is shown
that the NEAS interlayer may absorb more energy than PVB interlayer and it may be a competitive candidate for windshield interlayer. 相似文献

The so-called critical speed of a linearized railway vehicle is shown to be no useful measure for the stability of the system in practice. The important interaction between vehicle and track can be taken into account by the riding quality for a certain vehicle on every particular piece of track. The riding quality is determined by the accelerations transmitted to the payload, weighted according to comfort standards, and the relative displacements between wheel and rail. An adaptive control system of the model following type is proposed for drive motion control of a four wheel steering (4WS) car with using neural network (NN) which has mastered nonlinear friction force between tire and road surface. A model of one rigid body is adopted which represents appropriately two kinds of car motion caused by steering action, namely the lateral displacement and the yawing rotation, and an equation of motion is described in a simplified form to make a system equation for motion control possible. Nonlinear relation between the cornering force of tire and the slip angle is obtained by numerical analysis with the tire model proposed by E. Fiala, taking friction coefficient and car speed as the parameters. The result is used as the teaching signal for NN. Three NN are used in the control system composed of both the feed-forward and the feedback circuits in order to realize adaptive control. Validity and usefulness of the proposed adaptive control system with NN are verified by three kinds of computer simulation. 相似文献

This paper empirically evaluates web site services in the liner shipping industry based on the service requirements of the user firms, i.e., shippers. The results suggest that shippers perceive tracing to be the most important service attribute of a web site, followed by customs response, vessel schedules, and electronic document service. Based on the concept of market segmentation, we employed cluster analysis to classify users (shippers) of web site services provided by liner shipping companies into four segments, namely support and performance services oriented firms, equipment information oriented firms, performance information oriented firms, and transaction services oriented firms. Data from a mooring line deployed midway between the Alboran Island and Cape Tres Forcas are used to study the time variability of the Alboran Sea from May 1997 to May 1998. The upper layer salinity and zonal velocity present annual and semiannual cycles characterised by a minimum in spring and autumn and a maximum in summer and winter. Temperature has the opposite behaviour to that of salinity indicating changes in the presence of the Atlantic water within the Alboran Passage. A large set of SST images is used to study these cycles. The decrease of salinity and velocity in our mooring location in spring and autumn seems to be related to the eastward drifting of the Western Alboran Gyre (WAG). The increase of salinity and velocity is caused by the Atlantic current flowing south of the Alboran Island and its associated thermohaline front. Conductivity–temperature–depth (CTD) data from two cruises along the 3°W are coherent with current meters and SST interpretations.During the period analysed, summer months are characterised by the stability of the two-gyre system, while in winter, the circulation is characterised by a coastal jet flowing close to the African shore. We use sea level differences across the Strait of Gibraltar for studying the variability of the Atlantic inflow. We discuss the changes in the Alboran Sea circulation and its relation with the variability of the inertial radius of the Atlantic inflow. Though our results are speculative, we find a possible relation between the disappearance of the two-gyre system and a reversal of the circulation in Gibraltar. Longer time series are needed to conclude, but comparison with previous works makes us think that the seasonal cycle described from May 1997 to May 1998 could be the most likely one for the Alboran Sea upper layer. 相似文献

An increasingly popular approximate method for assessing ship hull girder ultimate strength is to combine the individual elasto-plastic load-carrying characteristics of each single stiffened-plate unit comprising the ship hull cross section. In order to evaluate methods (numerical and experimental) for developing the load-carrying characteristics (load–shortening curves), a full-scale testing system was designed and constructed to provide data for stiffened steel plate units under combined axial and lateral loads. The system included an assembly of discrete plate edge restraints that were developed to represent symmetric boundary conditions within a grillage system. Twelve full-scale panels including ‘as-built’, ‘deformed’ and ‘damaged’ specimens were tested in this set-up.
The specimens failed by combined plate and flexural buckling, stiffener tripping or local collapse, depending on the magnitude of lateral loads and local damage. Load-shortening curves associated with different failure modes were found to be distinctly different and it was found that a small lateral load could change the failure mode from flexural buckling to tripping. Current design criteria should directly consider effects of the lateral loads on the failure modes and the collapse loads of stiffened plates. 相似文献

As a newly industrialized country, Korea has shown remarkable economic progress in the last three decades. This phenomenal growth has rapidly increased demands for better quality of life. This includes, among others, increasing demand for high quality transportation system services. In this paper, the method of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is utilized to evaluate rural highway improvement projects in Korea. The appropriate rural highway improvement projects for widening and paving were selected and studied on the basis of some selection criteria. The results have shown that there are some significant differences in prioritizing projects using the traditional economic evaluation method as compared to those resulting from the use of AHP. As demonstrated, the AHP proves to be an effective tool in evaluating transportation system projects. 相似文献
