Non‐quantifiable factors (e.g. perceived, attitudinal and preferential factors) have not been investigated fully in past transportation studies, which has raised questions on the predictive capabilities of the models. In this study, Structure Integration Models, with one of their sub‐models, Measurement Equation, are combined with latent variables, which are integrated with another sub‐model, Structural Equation. The estimated latent variables are used as explanatory variables in decision models. As a result, the explanatory and predictive capabilities of the models are enhanced. The models can then be used to describe the various behaviors of travelers of different types of transportation systems in a more accurate way. In this study, the Structure Integration Model was applied to study the impacts of real‐time traffic information on the route‐switching behavior of road users on the Sun Yat‐Sen expressway, Taiwan. At present, the real‐time traffic information provided on this expressway includes radio traffic reports and changeable message signs. The results of this study can facilitate the provision of traffic information on highways. 相似文献

This paper proposes conceptual frameworks incorporating technology acceptance model, theory of planned behavior and three additional constructs – impression changes, attitude of government, and risk to investigate the factors affecting freeway driver intention to adopt electronic toll collection service for both users and nonusers of electronic toll collection. The proposed frameworks are unique because of the incorporation of media and word-of-mouth effects to represent the impression changes, respectively. The respondents were specifically asked about their impressions of electronic toll collection related policies and strategies spread through media and word-of-mouth before and after electronic toll collection operation. Estimated results obtained from structural equations modeling validate that impression changes in both media and word-of-mouth exhibit significant direct or indirect effects on freeway driver intention to adopt electronic toll collection service. Corresponding strategies to enhance electronic toll collection adoption rate are then proposed accordingly. 相似文献

This study investigates the effects of various factors on highway drivers' speeding behaviour and estimates the amount of money that a highway driver is willing to pay for speeding violations in Taiwan. The contingent valuation method is applied to measure drivers' preference and to derive the value function of the amount of money. Logit and probit models are estimated to analyse the significant variables influencing speeding behaviour and to calculate the willingness to pay for speeding violations. The research results show that increasing speeding fines is an effective way to reduce illegal driving behaviour on highways. Significant variables affecting highway drivers' speeding behaviour include gender, engine capacity, past offenders in the previous year, and the risk‐seeking characteristics of drivers. Finally, the logit and probit models show that the amounts of money that highway drivers are willing to pay for speeding violations are $US119 and $US116, respectively.
