This paper is review of the characterization of exhaust particles from state-of-the-art internal combustion engines. We primarily focus on identifying the physical and chemical properties of nano-particles, i.e., the concentration, size distribution, and particulate matter (PM) morphology. Stringent emissions regulations of the Euro 6 and the LEV III require a substantial reduction in the PM emissions from vehicles, and improvements in human health effects. Advances in powertrains with sophisticated engine control strategies and engine after-treatment technologies have significantly improved PM emission levels, motivating the development of new particle measurement instruments and chemical analysis procedures. In this paper, recent research trends are reviewed for physical and chemical PM characterization methods for gasoline and diesel fueled engines under various vehicle certification cycles and real-world driving conditions. The effects of engine technologies, fuels, and engine lubricant oils on exhaust PM morphology and compositions are also discussed. 相似文献

目的探讨肿瘤坏死因子α(TNF-α)、白介素1β(IL-1β)和抗偏头痛药物舒马曲坦(Sumatriptan)对大鼠三叉神经节(TG)离体培养后降钙素基因相关肽(CGRP)mRNA表达水平的影响及其细胞内信号转导机制。方法将不同浓度的TNF-α、IL-1β、IL-2和Sumatriptan分别加入DMEM培养液中,与SD大鼠TG离体孵育24h;进一步将细胞内丝裂原激活的蛋白激酶(MAPK)信号转导系统ERK1/2、JNK、P38三条信号通路关键激酶特异性阻断剂PD98059、SP600125、SB239063加入DMEM培养液中,30min后分别加入有效浓度的炎性因子TNF-α和IL-1β后,与大鼠TG共同孵育24h,实时定量PCR(RT-PCR)法检测TG内CGRP-mRNA表达水平变化。结果 50μg/L的TNF-α、25μg/L的IL-1β可明显上调离体TG内CGRP-mRNA表达水平(P<0.05),0.1g/L和0.5g/L Sumatriptan能显著下调TG内CGRP-mRNA表达水平,而20~80μg/L的IL-2对CGRP-mRNA表达无影响。特异性阻滞剂SP600125、SB239063分别与50μg/L TNF-α、25μg/L IL-1β孵育24h后,CGRP-mRNA表达量较对照组显著降低(P<0.05)。结论 TG离体培养时,炎性因子TNF-α、IL-1β可显著上调CGRP-mRNA表达水平;一定浓度的舒马曲坦能下调CGRP-mRNA表达;JNK和P38信号转导通路参与了TNF-α、IL-1β诱导的TG内CGRP-mRNA上调过程。 相似文献

Abstract Most federal and state coastal laws were framed with a distinct emphasis on preservation of rural/recreational areas. Yet in recent years a rural/urban coastal dichotomy has emerged. This has been especially prominent in the siting of energy facilities since these operations are often water dependent; power plants, for example, need huge amounts of cooling water, and offshore oil and gas extraction requires onshore support facilities. Recently, this issue has gained special prominence on the East Coast with the commencement of offshore oil and gas exploration. A case study was conducted in Hudson County, New Jersey, in New York harbor. In this area five oil‐related facility proposals were rejected from 1972 to 1976, primarily due to citizen opposition. Citizen activists now see the urban waterfront as a special place to which they want access and amenity uses rather than a continuation of past, almost exclusive industrial development. Hudson County citizens share the aspirations of those in several urban coastal areas which have experienced waterfront revitalization, including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, New Haven, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto. Innovative siting which utilizes inland, rather than coastal, locations is suggested as one way to lessen urban/rural siting tensions. 相似文献

Specifying proximity warning functions for aircraft in managed airspace has received considerable attention. However, similar functions for aircraft operating in unmanaged airspace have received comparatively little analysis despite the fact that these functions are stressed to a greater physical degree, and perhaps more frequently, than in managed airspace. The mid-air collision hazard and its associated risk are re-examined from both an historical and a systematic engineering modelling viewpoint. Historic measures of this transport risk in managed airspace have been based on fatalities normalized by flight hours or flight movements. However some of these data may not be available in unmanaged airspace. Another approach to measurement directs attention to populations at risk where several measures are now well known: collective risk, individual risk and the frequency of occurrence of the hazards that give rise to such risk. A decision support methodology is presented that relates both transport and population-based approaches. A cohesive and consistent set of aspired goals for various stakeholder groups can be set taking into account the different stakeholder needs. A case study is drawn from historic mid-air collision data to illustrate the process. A consistent basis for national-level policy decisions harmonised with proactive engineering design requirements is achieved. The strengths, limitations and implications of this approach for engineering design purposes are discussed. 相似文献

In this study, a method for vehicle tracking through video analysis based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) particle filtering with metropolis sampling is proposed. The method handles multiple targets with low computational requirements and is, therefore, ideally suited for advanced-driver assistance systems that involve real-time operation. The method exploits the removed perspective domain given by inverse perspective mapping (IPM) to define a fast and efficient likelihood model. Additionally, the method encompasses an interaction model using Markov Random Fields (MRF) that allows treatment of dependencies between the motions of targets. The proposed method is tested in highway sequences and compared to state-of-the-art methods for vehicle tracking, i.e., independent target tracking with Kalman filtering (KF) and joint tracking with particle filtering. We present a quadratic programming framework to address the problem of finding optimal maintenance policies for multifacility transportation systems. The proposed model provides a computationally-appealing framework to support decision making, while accounting for functional interdependencies that link the facilities that comprise these systems. In particular, the formulation explicitly captures the bidirectional relationship between demand and deterioration. That is, the state of a facility, i.e., its condition or capacity, impacts the demand/traffic; while simultaneously, demand determines a facility’s deterioration rate. The elements that comprise transportation systems are linked because the state of a facility can impact demand at other facilities. We provide a series of numerical examples to illustrate the advantages of the proposed framework. Specifically, we analyze simple network topologies and traffic patterns where it is optimal to coordinate (synchronize or alternate) interventions for clusters of facilities in transportation systems. 相似文献
